Sunshowers

Jun 18, 2012 04:11

A perfect day would be wrapped up in your sweater
(It's still warm and soaked in your scent)
After waterfalls come down over our heads
Cold and clear like a spray of glass
With rainbows trapped in every drop

Your skin smells like water and sunshine
And tastes like summer rain

Any day I spend with you is perfect in every way
You are the sun that shines through the clouds
Warming the rain that falls from heaven
Like little crystal kisses in my hands

You turn thunderstorms into sunshowers
You make me feel like I'm not just average
Like I can be something more than I am
Even though I'm not extraordinary
You give me the faith I need
To believe that greatness is in my grasp
And I have naught to do but close my fingers around it

When I think I won't be able to face the day
You whisper "Good morning" and suddenly I'm invincible
I can face a world I was too afraid to step into
And my leaden veins are no longer too heavy to carry

In your arms my flaws can't hurt me
And you turn everything that's upside-down
Right-side up again

If it's too dark for me to find my way home
Your heart is a beacon of light
Guiding me in the right direction
To return home to you

I know that things can fall apart
And my world can crumble to pieces between my fingers
As long as your heartbeat keeps me breathing
I will be able to pull the debris together
Underneath the sheets of my bed

There is nothing that makes my life more meaningful
Than knowing I wake up every morning to love you more than I did yesterday
