big steps
i cannot wait for chelsea to update her lj. this is gonna be good.
i am trying to don a new attitude which rachel levitsky has been trying to teach me. it is called the "new fuck you attitude." rachel always says that i let everything in the world bother me, which in actuality is quite egocentric. everyone and everything does not involve me.
so...here are the first few things i did:
1. the annoying girl who made me go to her cd release party and is loud on the phone keeps nagging me about her events. so i just handed her 4 fliers for my events and said, "you should check out at least two of these. by the way, that release party was good." she looked a little befuddled.
2. i left the woman i freelance for a message saying that i was not going to fax her my work until she settled on a fee for me. then i asked for $40 an hour. it is a ton of work and she is hard to work for.
3. there is insanity all around me. any file cabinet, storage box, desk drawer...anything...is being rummaged through in search of "suspicious papers." i know the individuals spearheading this mission are focusing their activities around me since they know i am a big sucker and will eventually do the bulk of the cleaning work...but, i just cranked up the ol' sony discman and am determined to just plonk away. now they keep leaving anything that says early childhood on the far corner of my desk, so i am discretely placing the materials back in a newly cleaned shelf.
AND, since i donned this new outlook...several good things have happened.
-anne waldman called me to ask my opinion on what queer feminists would be good to do a "poetry is news report from the fields" type thing
-i got invited to read at the battle hill series (which is the alter ego of ZINC, hosted by the girlfriend of the ZINC host)--April 12 baby.
-i am reading at battle hill with GREG FUCHS!!! (who is one of my favorites)
