Being groomed

Working from home I get to be around the cats all the time. And so I get to witness all sorts of funny goings on that I would have missed previously. Generally they sleep the entire morning, but every week or so they switch up their morning nap spot. They'll pick a spot and then stick with it for a while, develop a routine. And then, almost on cue, they both pick somewhere new.

Lately Nissa has been sleeping in the closet, because the house has been pretty warm and the closet stays a little cooler. Holly has been setting up shop in her basket or on the comforter (kitty bed) in the studio. This morning she was on the comforter grooming herself while I worked. I went over and put my head down next to her just to see what she would do. She continued to groom herself but also started purring. Then she looked over at me and started licking my eyebrows. Apparently I needed a kitty bath as well! So cute.

Hockey was a lot better last night. We had a couple subs again, so we had to switch around positions and I ended up centering the second line. It was fine, but it's always a bummer not playing with my boys. When I play center I typically am good defensively but have a hard time getting up on the attack. Last night was pretty much that case. I was picking off passes and making nice defensive plays, but I didn't contribute anything offensively. I was winning faceoffs like a madman though. We played a really hard game and outshot the other team by a fair margin but wound up with a 3-3 tie. I had a chance near the end of the game, coming up on the rush. I took a shot with about 5 seconds left. Thinking about it today I probably should have used those extra seconds and pushed to the net, but hindsight is 20/20.
