Tonight’s post is a sampler pack of magical girl themes you may or may not know of! If one of them interests you, go ahead and look into them. It’s

THEME MINI-SPOTLIGHT BUFFET!

Nurse Angel Ririka SOS: The Earth of a parallel universe, a planet known as Queen Earth, now faces utter devastation at the hands of Dark Joker. The Black Vaccine used by Dark Joker has sickened and killed off local wildlife, withered trees and left the entire planet in ruin. Magical warrior Kanon has been sent by Queen Helena to find the legendary Nurse Angel, bring her what little remains of the powerful healing substance known as Green Vaccine, and awaken her power so that she might help both worlds. He doesn’t have much time, for Dark Joker’s next target is our Earth.

Ririka is an ordinary girl growing up next to her best friend Seiya. She’s spent a lot of time at the small town hospital owned by Seiya’s family, and has learned quite a bit about first aid. It’s she who is given a magical nurse cap by handsome and mysterious transfer student Kanou (who is actually Kanon) and is given the role of Nurse Angel, Earth’s last defense against the Black Vaccine. Dark Joker’s minions have started using the Black Vaccine to corrupt and mutate wildlife, and Kanon is desperate not to see history repeat itself. And the Green Vaccine is dwindling dangerously low...

OOC Notes: Nurse Angel Ririka SOS is a series with a focus on drama, an increasingly dark and urgent storyline, and an attack called “Angel Aid Bomb Beam.” I strongly recommend checking it out if you’re a magical girl fan, and if you find an alt along the way, why not?
Characters from Queen Earth should be extremely rare, as sadly, there aren’t many survivors left. Characters serving Dark Joker are appable.

Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch: Not even the master mages of the Magic Association agree on the existence of mermaids. They’ve appeared in legends and old records, but none have been seen by reliable sources for ages. The mermaids are out there, however, living deep beneath the sea and channeling the power of magical songs. Once in a while they hide on land in human form.

Such is the case with Lucia, Mermaid Princess of the North Pacific Ocean. She fell in love with a surfer boy she rescued seven years ago, and has taken a human form to find him. Her human disguise, Lucia Nanami, doesn’t look much like her mermaid form, so Kaito sadly doesn’t recognize her. She has also been charged with finding the six other Mermaid Princesses and bringing together their magical pearls to summon the sea goddess Aqua Regina and protect the marine world from an onslaught of aquatic demons.

To achieve this goal, she joins up with blue princess Hanon and green princess Rina, both of whom are also disguised as humans on the surface. They can use their pearls to transform into singing idols who, unlike many magical idols, can actually use their songs in battle to defeat demonic enemies. They don’t fight, but their songs are as effective as many more conventional magical attacks.

Lucia has her work cut out for her, since Kaito is being targeted by the sea demons for some reason. Those same demons have kidnapped two of the other princesses. Oh, and if Lucia confesses the truth about her being a mermaid to Kaito, she’ll turn into seafoam. But maybe if she sings from her heart, he’ll figure it out for himself?

OOC notes: The undersea kingdoms are just that-undersea-and thus hard to access by normal means. Although mermaids are appable, please be aware that there are only seven mermaid princesses with magical pearls, and thus you cannot app original mermaid princesses with the same powerset. A mermaid who happens to be a princess but has a different powerset is OK. Also, please bear in mind that mermaids don’t come to the surface very often, and should have a good reason for doing so.

Sugar Sugar Rune: Like many other magical worlds, the other dimension that insists on calling itself the Magical World (no matter how many other realms might claim that title) have sent agents forth into Earth. Unlike many other magical worlds, the agents of the Magical World aren’t really out to save Earth...

In fact, the time has come to pick a new Queen of the Magical World, a strange place full of chocolate lava lakes, candy buildings and a food-related naming scheme. In order to choose between two young witches, outgoing Chocolat and softspoken Vanilla, a challenge has been issued. Both are to enter the human world and disguise themselves as normal students, and use their powers to capture as many hearts as possible. She who finishes with the most hearts, wins the crown!

As cruel as this sounds, it really isn’t all that terrible. Witches from the Magical World can capture any emotion they induce in others in crystal heart form, without harming the target. The most powerful and valuable crystal heart is a red heart created from the emotion of love, naturally. So of course, the queen candidate could win by earning the respect and love of her classmates (and then crystallizing it,) right? Well, maybe...and then there’s the handsome and cold Pierre, who seems determined to meddle in this contest for reasons of his own. Despite their rivalry, Chocolat and Vanilla are inseparable best friends, but Pierre’s plans may just threaten that, too.

Oh, and both girls will be guided by their mentor, the handsome, charming and world-famous rock star Rockin’ Robin. Along with being a skilled and incredibly long-lived magician, he’s incredibly wealthy and lives in a posh apartment in the wealthiest part of Tokyo. He has a legion of fangirls and a fanclub at Mahora Academy.

OOC Theme Notes: Characters from the Magical World are called “witches,” (not to be confused with the Witches of Madoka Magica,) and can live much longer than humans. There are also ogres, who look almost identical to humans and witches and have a rivalry with them. Magical World witches can be harmed by black hearts, drawn from hatred, jealousy and fear, but they don’t hurt ogres.
Characters have to consent to having their hearts “taken.” Doing so causes no harm to the target, and will almost always go unnoticed due to the nature of the spell, but whatever emotion they were feeling at the moment will fade away. A character will remember being happy, but not understand why, and be left in a neutral state instead. This is, of course, a temporary effect.

If you have any questions about any of these themes, just feel free to ask!
