Hostess: And now it's my pleasure to announce... the man who's being called a hero in the political world, and (laughs) the most handsome senator I've ever seen... Johan Liebert!
[applause]
Hostess: Welcome to the show.
Johan: Thank you.
Hostess: So, you've been seen as someone who smashes through the rigid boundaries of political parties. You won that last election with a landslide... Liberal, Conservative, none of it played a factor when it came to you. Why do you think that is? Are you just that inspirational messiah everyone's been blogging about?
Johan: (laughs) That's very flattering, but I really think it was about the message more than about me. The people were tired of seeing a Liberal majority in our Senate, tired of aging incumbents making the same mistakes for twenty years, and they were just ready to see someone with the youthful determination to restore the city to its former glory.
Hostess: And speaking of youth, and this is the really incredible part to me... You're only twenty years old!
Johan: Yes, that's right.
Hostess: Most guys your age are too busy thinking about frat parties and beer pong to even consider politics.
Johan: (laughs)
Hostess: But you finished school at a very young age.
Johan: I was home-schooled throughout my childhood and passed the high school equivalency test when I was fourteen.
Hostess: Fourteen! But you didn't get accepted into college until you were sixteen.
Johan: They thought fifteen was just a little too young, so I spent that year volunteering, first with a homeless shelter in the Abyss and then at a children's home in Terra.
Hostess: And after you earned your law degree you went immediately into child advocacy. Was that a result of those experiences?
Johan: Absolutely. I was deeply moved by meeting so many children who had lost their parents or who never knew their parents at all, some of them coming from terribly abusive households, and I just... It broke my heart. They faced all of these trials with such bravery, and I felt this calling to make sure that they and children like them could have the normal, happy lives that they deserved.
Hostess: You recently adopted a little girl yourself, didn't you?
Johan: Yes, although I'm doing my best to keep her out of the media spotlight. I'd prefer for her to grow up just like any other kid.
Hostess: Of course. And now I hear you're planning to build an orphanage of your own.
Johan: It's a pet project of mine, but yes. I've gathered investors and I'm in the process of consulting experts. We're just in the beginning stages, really, but this is something very important to me. I'm putting a lot of effort into making sure we can create the perfect environment for these children. I want them to truly feel at home.
Hostess: You're just as compassionate as they've said.
Johan: My opponents call it "soft and sentimental". (laughs)
Hostess: One of your staffers reported that you started crying when you heard the news about the discovery at Revalkan 6. Is that true?
Johan: I can't have been the only one.
Hostess: But your next move was to call for an emergency session to allocate more funds to the NGPD.
Johan: No expense spared on the forensics investigation. We want those responsible for this atrocity to be caught before another child has to suffer.
Hostess: You sound a little like a wolf on the hunt there.
Johan: Maybe I am.
Hostess: We're almost out of time here, but I want to finish on a lighter note. Can I ask you what every bachelorette in the city's been wondering? Are you really single?
Johan: (laughs) Yes, I really am. But I'm not too worried about it right now. I'm still young, right?
Hostess: You sure are! Thanks for taking a little time to talk with us today, Senator.
Johan: It was my pleasure.
Hostess: Coming up next, winter fashions on the runway! What's hot to keep you warm when it's cold out?
