Does anyone remember?
APril 20th 1999
this may sound vaguely familiar to some of you, while to others, this date is nothing but another day of your busy life.
but to me, this date, though at times i forget it exactly, means a revolution in how i percieved God, and how i live my life to serve Him.
this is the date of the columbine highschool shootings. at one point i would have been able to tell you each of the girls names, and what they said to their captors, but over the years, the story has faded in my memory.
one of the girls prophesied her death in several ways, yet, the world found little time for her drawings and poetry untill she had died to prove them true. only then did the whole world stand in awe. they lived their faith! they walked the walk AND talked the talk EVEn with a gun pointed at their umprotected scull! a man will die to defend his country, a man will die to protect his family, but when men go to war , there are rules of the bettlefield, and armor to protect. These girls had no armor; and to some, what they gave their young lives for was mearly an adorable fairytale. they died for their faith... a belief!.. a hope... something that is not always tangible, yet always exists. I saw the pictures, i heard the stories....and knew I would never be the same again. Cassie Bernal...Rachael Scott.. these girls would be imbeded in my memory from now on as my heroes. and still today I think on their story and their character. how God had changed them both from struggling,undecisive lives into new people. people who took up their cross and suffered with Christ in steadfast and brave deaths.
If their story was to repeat a hundred times over... how many people would we reach? if their story were to be repeated, only this time with YOU... how many people's lives would you touch?
