You get pregnant at age 16 and find yourself in a bind. As a child you thought that at this age the only decisions you would have to worry about it was color car you wanted and what dress you should wear to the prom, but now responsibility is laid into your lap and whether or not you want it, you have no choice. You are going to be a mommy now and life now begins for you. Though it’s expected of teens nowadays to finish high school, go to college and get a job and then have kids, you have skipped a step. Except there is another choice and now you are faced with an ultimate, life changing decision. Teens are left with this decision every day, abortion.
Abortion is a wide known debate. I hear so much about whether abortion should be legal or not, most of the time its around election time. It’s something that has, and still does, determine the polls for president elections. I am very strong in my views with any subject and I am pretty much grounded in what I think and in my morals for most things. On this subject I know in my heart that abortion is wrong. My whole life, no matter how old, or who I was with I have never had a question in my mind about this subject. Babies are precious creations of God and no one, absolutely no one, has the right to take that away, but God.
Many people would disagree in saying that some things happen on accident and they don’t want their lives to take an immediate stop to take care of a baby. So to keep their life running smoothly it becomes the easy way out. Some, on the other hand, feel like they have no choice because physically they can’t, or they feel as if they won’t be able to provide and it becomes understandable even for people like me who are totally in disagreement with abortion, but I still think its wrong even in that situation. There are other ways to handle situations that I have mentioned. Adoption provides life still and maybe not the best life but God still intended for that baby to be born. I could argue forever on this matter and I would win every time. It’s one of the things I feel strongest about and something I have thought a lot about leaving me with many answers to so many questionable things, when it comes to abortion.
Abortion is done in many different ways. To me though, abortion is murder. Once there is the possibility of a baby, whether its fully formed in the womb or not, it is still a living creation of God, and its not fair if you take away the right of the baby, by taking its life before it is even born. Compare abortion to a teenager going through classes and training to become a legalized driver. What if the parents had the choice to stop the classes and training before the classes even started? What if even by the age of 18 your parents could make a yes or no on whether or not you could drive? Would it be a fair situation?
Though abortion isn’t driving and really isn’t anything close to it, its more serious then driving. Taking something like driving away would be devastating to me and to most teenagers that I know today. But what if your mother decided before you were even formed into a little baby that they didn’t want to give you your right to life how would that make you feel? All the rights in this life wouldn’t even matter if you weren’t living in the first place.
