Connor Hale had seen plenty of odd things throughout his long stay in Chicago. One could almost call him a veteran. He wasn't born and raised in the city, but he might as well have been. He'd stood by it through plenty of disasters and plenty of Rift shenanigans.
He could honestly say he had never witnessed something like this, however. Connor walked past the girl the moment she began to turn in a circle, singing.
The Smiths.
"Now there's a song I haven't heard in a while."
He will be catching the frantic look in her eye soon enough.
The song stopped as she turned to look at him. Fell's Church wasn't a big town. Bonnie knew what extracurricular activities every person in her graduating class had been involved in, knew most of the people in town by name, and definitely at least recognized people around her own age at the very least by appearance.
She'd never seen this guy before in her life.
And at that realization, the panic began to grow and she found herself singing again.
"Wild man's world is crying in pain," she sang at the man. "What you gonna do when everybody's insane? So afraid of fortune, so afraid of you, what you gonna do? Crazy on you, let me go crazy on you."
"Hey, hey," he said, voice as soothing as he could possibly make it, the concern evident in his features. Sure, he didn't know this girl, but it didn't matter. The frightened look on her face would make him concerned, stranger or not. "It's okay, slow down."
"Do you know what happened to you?" he asked.
Of course, Connor couldn't instantly jump to the conclusion she just fell through the Rift, despite looking out of place. But it's Chicago. There were plenty of things that could've gone wrong, including a Muse infecting her on his way.
They couldn't always control their own ability, infecting people with inspiration, forcing them to burst into song and dance.
"Crazy on you..." she half sang, half mumbled into her hands and she placed them over her face.
Why was she singing? Why couldn't she stop singing? This was all getting weirder and weirder. Maybe it was some kind of magic spell gone wrong. Summer Soltice, and she'd been in the circle of trees with a circle of candles. One candle had fallen away and broken through the trees? Broken circles? Could that have sent her away? Any possibility of that?
She wasn't sure, but the rush of thoughts were enough to calm her down and make her stop singing.
She spread her fingers, peeking out at the man between them. He was still there.
"No," she finally responded in an uncertain chirp.
Connor is definitely still there when she spreads her fingers out.
Sorry, Bonnie. He's not in the habit of leaving someone that appears to be in great distress. The concern's only strengthened, and he folds his arms across his chest, remaining directly in front of her. He smiles a bit in sympathy, as he can only imagine how little she wants to be bursting into song at random.
(Even if he approves of the song choices, personally.)
"Okay, well, my name's Connor. And I'm going to try and help you with whatever the Rift did, okay? It can be a nasty thing sometimes. What's the last thing you remember before things started getting weird?"
"The Rift?" she says uncertainly. Because that word, somehow, sticks out to her. That's a weird phrase he's using, the whatever the Rift did one.
But without waiting for an answer, she shakes her head, taking a few steps back. Not from the man. Stranger or not, he doesn't seem dangerous and vampire legs are hard to outrun if worse comes to worst. But she wants to back away from the whole situation and she doesn't know which direction to go.
"I was at the cemetery," she finally says. "I was about to do a spell and I didn't think I'd done it yet, but..." She trails off as she takes in the scenery. Had the spell gone wrong? Was that it?
"...Yeah, the one responsible for the tears in the universe as we know it?" he asks with a slight smile. He's already getting the sense the girl doesn't know what he's talking about, which must mean she just fell through. Connor is not the best at this, but he's going to try.
He's not a danger to you, Bonnie. Connor may be a werewolf, but he keeps himself under control, and he never has the intention to hurt anyone, as long as no one hurts his pack.
"Cemetery. Okay, where was this cemetery? Was it in Chicago? Because... that's where you are right now. Chicago, Illinois."
"No, I'm not," she immediately responds. Because that's impossible. She did not just step one foot out of a grove of trees in Virginia an step into Chicago, Illinois. That was a very very very big step.
"I'm in Fell's Church, Virginia. You must be confused." And she begins walking away, looking for a familiar landmark. The man is obviously crazy, she shouldn't be talking to him.

Heart, she wondered to herself? Really?

Chicagi was an interesting place, alright.

It's always a good starting point. Hopefully.
