[open] Howl for me

It's a dark, clear night in Chicago, but there's no moon to be found in the sky. There's the typical amount of urban noise, but somehow it feels quieter. Or maybe it only seems that way to Shaylee because she's never been to Chicago- but had imagined that all American cities were louder than this. She's thankful that whatever brought her here had the decency to bring her in her winter school clothes. The heavy robes are usually a bloody pain, but as the Chicago wind tries to nip at her, the dark wool holds back the icy beast.

Shaylee glances up and smiles at the dark moon. It's her night, and she wonders if that has something to do with all of this. Her mother has always said that her gifts were stronger when the moon was in the phase of her birth. But if that is the case, then where is Eva? Surely her twin would have plenty of strength to follow along.

For now, the sixteen year old is content to explore this place. Some might wonder why she's out on her own so late at night. Others might recognize her as out of place, as so many are in Chicago. But she doesn't look afraid of it. She may not understand it, but Shaylee is anything but afraid of whatever is happening.
