The world could end and it would feel no worse than this...

[Forward-dated to the end of the Rift Tales plot...]

When Georgia woke up this morning, all the puppies she hadn't managed to give away had thankfully vanished - except for one, which she has a sneaking suspicion might be the very first one that woke her up when this all started a week ago.

She knows simply shoving it out the door won't work. She's already shoved puppies at absolutely everyone willing to take one or two or five. So... she's in the park now, with the puppy, hoping A) some small child will fall in love with it and take it home, or B) the puppy will get distracted, wander off, and get lost. Is abandoning a puppy in the park the most ethical thing to do? No, probably not. Is it better than keeping a small furry ninja that follows her everywhere, sneaks into locked rooms, and will eventually grow into something big enough to amplify? The answer to that one is fairly self-evident.

Unfortunately, the puppy is just sitting there on the grass, staring at her like it knows what she's trying to do and is judging her for it. Georgia's glaring back at it from behind her sunglasses, arms folded over her chest. "I don't care. I honestly don't. You know how I told that kid I wouldn't drown you? I lied. Now get lost."

She realizes she's talking to a dog. It's making her worry somewhat about her sanity, but after a week of being followed everywhere by that many puppies, it's probably to be expected that her sanity's a little frayed. She's sure she'll be good as new as soon as she gets rid of this one last goddamn dog.
