Here it goes again.

Jim Kirk isn't a stranger to the odd. As captain of the Federation's flagship, he's run into all sorts of strange incidents and problematic situations. Hell, his dad died when a vengeful Romulan from the future fell through a black hole. Stopping said mad alien earned him the Enterprise in the first place. And since then, during his captaincy, he's faced sex pollen, energy beings, and a rather irritating fuzzy specimen known as 'the tribble.' On the Enterprise, a routine away mission is way less common than an absurd one.

Still, he had high hopes for this one. Key word being: had. Scans indicated that the planet had no natural predators larger than an oversized dog and no sentient race to speak of. Beaming down, he fully expected a boring away mission spent scuffing his boots against the (surprisingly pink) grass and trying to look dignified while the science team took samples. It started out that way, until he slouched over to a plum-colored tree and--suddenly found his surroundings drastically changed.

Jim pauses and takes in his new environment in shock. He went from a sprawling, pastel-colored forest to...a construction site? It certainly looks like a construction site, but nobody's using laser drills or robots. Alright. Construction zone in the past, then. Because he's pretty sure this is Earth--one sun, blue sky, green grass. The buildings look similiar to the ones from his history books. Or he's just on a planet that hasn't discovered laser drilling yet and resembles Earth. Well. This makes things a mite more interesting, doesn't it? At least it isn't boring anymore (Jim never learned to be careful what he wished for).

Something else is odd, too. There's a weird feeling of pressure on his shoulders, like he just pulled on a backpack full of rocks. It makes him crumble forward and sway awkwardly, and he catches a glimpse of himself in a large piece of broken glass and--woah. Wings? Blinking, he tentatively focuses on making them move and watches in wonder in the glass as they twitch in response.

This is way more interesting than plant samples. But as fun as randomly sprouting wings and ending up in the past (or on a more primitive planet) is...He needs to get back to the Enterprise. Jim slowly attempts standing, trying to find his new center of gravity. Clinging to a pole for support, he glances around the seemingly abandoned site. "Hello! Anyone there?" He calls out as cheerfully and non-threateningly as he can.

Being friendly is generally the best way to deal with these situations.
