[ooc: open to everyone for forever. I'm probably crazy for including all my characters but what the heck. Have at 'em. Gimme your tags. I want them. All of them. :D]
Wes Gannon is at a bar. Pick a bar, any bar, and he's there. The events of the past few weeks have finally caught up with him and boy needs to drink... and maybe shoot some pool while

She comes on in without waiting to see if she gets a wave back, decked out in her awesome gear. Her 'awesome gear' consists of raggedy jeans, a Rolling Stones t-shirt, two pairs of sunglasses stacked on her head, and a flyswatter strapped to her thigh.
She's tomb-raidering any fucking bees that make it into the hotel. Just saying.
"Hey," she says with a smile. "You know what goes great with pizza?" She pulls a packet of Kool-Aid out of her back pocket. It's seen better days, but the logo is visible. "I was gonna use this to dye my hair red, but worthy shit and all that jazz. If we can find about four cups of sugar and a spoon, you'll have the ultimate Food Combo."
Yeah. She said four. She likes to chew the sugar in her Kool-Aid. There's not much like chilling on a couch with a big cup full of sugar pudding. It's given her six five cavities over the years and countless hours of deliciousness. Deliciousness > Cavities.
"I'm Aislin."

It's a guaranteed perk.
"Oh hi!" There is definitely a wave back and a big grin. It's hard not to find Phoebe in a good mood.
To Phoebe, this sounds like the best idea ever and she says so.
"Phoebe!" She stretches out a hand, the other reaching for the Kool-Aid. "I totes think the red hair would look good, but I'm glad you're sticking with the blonde. We've got to stick together and all!"

She's not going to be going anywhere anymore, though, now that she's found her ward, so it's cool to meet new people. Aislin's down with the making of friends.
"It's cool to meet you, Phoebe. I totally dig your name. It means 'beautiful goddess', right?" She nods, answering her own question. "Plus, it's the name of the cool chick from Friends who played the guitar."
She shakes Phoebe's hand and gives over the Kool-Aid. "You're right. There's not nearly enough of us around." She's totally serious. "I just got into town, too, so I just added another notch to the blonde awesomeness here in Chicago."
Reply
Her eyes widen, and she looks so very pleased with herself. "Is that what it means?" Phoebe's cheeks flush with pride. "OMG I totally love Friends. She was my favorite character! Along with Joey."
This will not come as any surprise.
"Chicago needs all the badass blondes it can get," Phoebe agrees. Her smile's already warmed up. Phoebe doesn't take too long to warm up to people. "So what's Aislin mean? It's a pretty name. And not very common, I'd think!"
Reply
She nods at Phoebe's comment, too, about friends. "The funnest character, for sure. And, Joey was a riot. I always kinda had a thing for Ross, though."
Have a snorty laugh, Phoebe. It's directed entirely at herself. She laughs at herself a lot.
It's nice to see someone smiling. She's used to smiles, but people aren't always genuine with them. Call it a fact of life, or a fact of hard life, but it's true. It's fun to meet people who reach over that and hit the good stuff.
"Aislin means 'dream'," she says with a grin. "I've got a thing for names."
Reply
Wrinkling her nose, she lets out a laugh. "Seriously? He was such a dope. Think I would have liked Chandler if I had to pick." Which doesn't say a whole lot about Phoebe, considering she doesn't have a type.
She just loves...everyone.
She leans on the counter across from Aislin. "That's pretty cool!" Having a name that means 'dream'' Well, it sounds pretty cool to someone like Phoebe. "Also cool? Those shades."
Phoebe motions to the sunglasses. Both of them. "You new around here? I never saw you at the Conrad!"
Reply
"Oh, he was a total dope," she agrees. "But, that can be hot. Of course, I had a thing for the Tom Selleck guy Monica dated too. You know. It's all groovy tunes in the jukebox of life. Each cute new whoever is a track." She mimes putting a quarter in the jukebox.
The narration thinks she's a nutball.
Aislin reaches up to grab the sunglasses, both pairs, as she's forgotten which ones she's wearing. "Thanks. I kinda collect them."
At the question, she nods and places one pair on her face. Then she reaches behind her ear and makes the sunglasses wiggle up and down. Why? Who knows. "I just got to town," she replies with a grin. "Best day of my whole life."
BEST. DAY. EVER.

"I totes like the older guys every now and then. Gets me into a lot of trouble sometimes." She grins, pure mischief and bubbly-ness and glee. "It's a good thing I like trouble!"
No, really, it is, considering her ward is Jack.
Phoebe lifts up a brow, propping her chin on both hands. She looks up at Aislin with wide blue eyes. "How come?"
She knows Aislin is an angel, but she doesn't know she's exactly a guardian angel like Phoebe. And in Chicago, no one's been having 'best days of their whole life' considering it's...Chicago.
Reply
Aislin grins. "Definitely a good thing. Anyone with a bit of fun tends to have a dash of trouble mixed in with them somehow. It's a part of the perfect recipe, dude."
When Phoebe props her chin up and looks at her, Aislin grins. She's glad Phoebe's a fellow angel, and the fact that she's here in the same place as Aislin and Max means she'll figure it out eventually anyway.
"I met my ward," she says, and yeah. She gets a little damn teary.
She searched all over the fucking country, whether she wants to admit she was 'searching' or not, and she pulls into Chicago of all places and finds him.
Go figure.
She kicks her feet a bit more, and the expression on her face is joyful. "It doesn't get anymore awesome than that, right?"

Not that Phoebe doesn't feel like she does, either. Still, doesn't hurt to get a few tips from a cool chick. Phoebe adjusts the bandana in her head.
She's wearing a floor length bohemian dress, a lot of bangles on her wrist, and that bandana she loves so much. It's red with white dots all over it. Doesn't really go with the whole outfit, but Phoebe's not about mixing classically, really.
I met my ward.
"Oh my God!" Jo nearly knocks down the Kool-Aid in her excitement. "You too?"
It's not just a fellow angel. It's a fellow guardian. And they've both found their wards! That is the best thing ever.

She figures Phoebe probably recognizes a like-minded person. She definitely enjoys living life. There are so many reasons to enjoy it, and yeah...there's shit, too. But, if it comes down to feeling the happy or getting dragged through the shit? If there's a choice? Aislin'll take the happy.
She's lived her life that way and she doesn't regret it. It's led her to where she is now, after all. And here is pretty damned amazing.
When she sees Phoebe nearly knock down the Kool-Aid, she starts to grin, then is cut short by her absolute happiness for the other girl. She jumps down from the counter, nodding. "Yes! Dude. Maybe it's a Chicago thing or something, but yes. This is so cool."
Aislin will now twirl around the kitchen a bit, and if Kool-Aid gets knocked over, it can be cleaned up, can't it? Two guardians? Finding their wards? This is cause for celebration.
She stops and grins for a moment. "Maxwell means 'great stream' and 'one who is influential'. That's his name. He's awesome like the Beatles, dude. Awesome like the Beatles."
There is no greater compliment Aislin Benedict can give. Ever.

Talks about anything else are effectively cut off once they get to the ward business. Phoebe's pretty damned excited about this too. "My ward's name is Jack! What does Jack mean?" she asks, mouth formed into a perfect O.
She's listening to you, Aislin. She's all ears.
"Oh hey! I know a Maxwell! Does he live here at the Kashtta, too?"
Not that she's ever compared him to the Beatles, but she does agree Max is awesome. Well, if it's the same Max they're talking about.
There've been greater coincidences in this world!

She really is a hippie chick, thus the expert opinion given above.
"Jack! Cool name. It's been around forever, so it's got a few meanings. 'Supplanter', 'God is gracious', and oh yeah...my fave, basically it can just mean 'the man'." She'll say Jack out loud a few more times just because it's a fun name to say. "There's probably even more meanings," she admits. "I just don't have the brain for remembering them all."
When Phoebe mentions knowing a Maxwell, Aislin grins. "Yeah, he does. That's why I popped on in to stay. Otherwise, I probably would've stayed in my car for a while or something."
The VW bug is love, Phoebe. Love.

"That'd be my fave too. Just the man. That'd fit him for sure. He's a captain! He's badass and suches. It's kind of overwhelming that I'm the one that was chosen to protect him but I'm up for the job!"
Even if she wasn't, she'd make herself so. Phoebe's been training to be well-equipped to be Torchwood. She's also going to be training alongside Jack but she wants to make the best sort of impression.
"Oh, man! It's a small world. He's my friend! That's totally cool he gets a guardian. He deserves someone looking out for him especially."
Phoebe hops onto the counter beside Aislin. A stash of candy is of course now on her lap, and she offers some to the other woman. "I know they tell you all about how it's gonna feel when you find them, but it's...more, yeah?"
Reply
"A captain." Aislin grins and gives her completely not-proper salute that she tends to give anyone in a uniform. They're all fair game really. Police, military, the ushers at movie theaters... "That's cool." When Phoebe says she's up to the job, Aislin drops the silly and smiles at her.
She doesn't doubt for one second that the girl will do whatever it takes to make sure she's up to the job.
It's what they are, after all.
Plus, she seems like a cool chick, and Aislin digs her bandana.
She's grinning again when Phoebe says Max is her friend. She's glad to hear he's got friends. He's got another now, of course, but she's glad. The 'especially' part makes her cock her head to the side a bit, and she asks about it. It's best for her to know right away, after all, if there's something to look out for especially.
Hence, the flyswatter strapped to her thigh.
She smiles when Phoebe hops up and thanks her before reaching out to take some of the offered candy. "It's way more," she agrees. "It was like..." There's the smallest, awed laugh, then she shakes her head. "It's impossible to describe right, but I felt like THERE. You know? Just...okay. This is where I've been getting to." She munches a bit of candy and looks over. "That make any kinda sense?"

And see, this is why Phoebe doesn't feel silly, talking about this with Aislin. Big bad captain or not. She knew the other woman would get it, because it's carved into the very core of who they are.
Guard. Protect. Watch over. Love and care after.
This one person from a thousand different universes, and somehow they're chosen to be linked to them. It's honestly the best thing Phoebe knows.
"Yeah, I totally fail at the words, too. I've been trying to find a description that fits, but the closest is like...you're an unfinished puzzle and then that final piece comes along and it all clicks together!"
She's grinning too, wide and real. "All the sense in the world."
Phoebe lifts her hand, as if hi-fiving the other blonde. "Kudos to us."
