Robin Rice stumbled on a few CLF members trying to deface property with more of their hate speech. He has no weapons andno idea how to fight. One of these is an Elemental of some sort. Apparently, he's decided to tell them to stop, instead of calling the police. He's saying a lot that sounds good about why they should stop. They seem too angry to

"Aren't you a little young to be in here?" Mio asks bemusedly as she passes him the little napkin her drink came on.
Reply
"I'm thirty five. I just look young for my age," he says with a smirk, He does not expect anyone to actually believe that.
He walks over to the napkin, picks it up, and shoves it into the trash. "Thanks for the... napkin, by the way. My sleeve only works for so long."
Reply
"Here's a hint: stop trying so hard. It only makes it more obvious that you're not telling the truth."
Mio takes a sip of her drink and considers. "I will give you points for gumption though."
Reply
He cannot get a drink not that she's drinking anything that he's too young to buy, but he'd rather avoid ordering anything at all. He does not actually want a drink. He hates alcohol.
"Trying too hard and gumption. I think I can handle that. Yeah, I've been called much worse. I do think I'm going to take a break on the whole..." Xander waves a hand vaguely in the air, unsure of a nice way to say what he wants so it's best to leave it to vagueness.

Mio finishes her drink and puts the empty glass back on the bar for the bartender to collect and motions to the bartender for another.
"So, what brings you here? I notice you're not drinking, which is the usual thing people do in bars. Or are you having problems with ID?" Just because Mio doesn't drink herself doesn't mean she's opposed to the concept of underage drinking. If Xander wanted to pass her some cash on the sly, she'd be perfectly happy to buy him a drink or two. Not for free, though. Xander may be amusing, but not amusing enough to spend her limited money on, especially considering the prices of drinks at bars.

So maybe never.
"Uh." Xander doesn't want to say. "I was looking for company? It seems like the place to go when you're... wanting some."
He hopes that was vague enough to not immediately give him away. Somehow, he can't imagine a whole lot of women would be cool with knowing what he wants, and he's not going to risk getting something dumped on him again. Once in one night is enough.
"I don't actually like alcohol at all."
Reply
"I'm going to tell you something, and you'd best keep it in mind if you know what's good for you: not interested. You try anything like that with me, and drinks in your face will be the least of your problems."
Mio takes a sip of her drink and returns to her usual pleasant demeanor. "That being said, you might have more luck if you went to a college party. You'll fit in better."
Reply
"Remember? I am taking a break. Possibly, a permanent break from using lines. Besides, I realize that seeing someone get hit in the face with a drink is not going to be attractive to anyone that sees it."
He clears his throat.
"I will keep that advice in mind. Did anyone ever tell you that you're occasionally scary? No offense, but I definitely would not want to cross you."
Reply
She smirks a bit when Xander says she's scary. "Oh, now and again. I find it's occasionally a very useful image to have. People don't mess around with you that way.
"So, what's your name? I'm Mio." Despite being driven by hormones, Xander seems like a pretty good guy. Mio thinks he's amusing, in a dorky sort of way.

He nods. A small smile pulls over his face again, because she is no longer being scary. She is smirking. A smirk is of the good.
"I'm sure it's all useful with making people behave around you. I tried for the scary before. ...People laughed then, too."
This is not where he hoped the night would end up, but he's not going to complain. As much as he'd like to have sex again, he remembers how terrifying that first time had been... and then he ended up out in the cold again, facing a world of zombies.
It was a great night.
"Xander. ...Harris," he says. "It's nice to meet you, now that you're being less scary."
Reply
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Xander," Mio holds out a hand for Xander to shake. "Is that short for Alexander, or is it just Xander?"
Reply
He takes the offered hand, giving it a very quick shake. Xander does not want to give her the wrong idea by holding on too long.
"It's short for Alexander, but my parents are the only ones who've ever called me that," he admits, and he does not want to be reminded of them.
Xander manages to keep the smirk, even if he's not feeling the emotion behind it. Everything's a joke. It's easier to laugh.
