Lois Lane falls down abruptly onto the hard cement in one part of the city, landing uncomfortably on her side. She lets out only a small yelp of pain: something, she's sure, that her father, the General, would be proud of if he was even here.

Speaking of "here," Lois knows it's definitely not Metropolis. The streets are laid out differently, she doesn't recognize any of the names of the shops, and she's been a reporter long enough to know when she's in an unfamiliar environment. This is one of them.

She gathers her purse and her scattered belongings and slowly works her way to standing. Her feet don't feel right after the fall, so she swaps out her heels for simple flats, throwing her stilettos inside her purse. The shoe change robs her of three inches of height, makes her look smaller. But she feels better, more comfortable.

She looks around for any sign of clues from where she's standing.

And can't find any. Of course. What's happened to me now? she thinks in an irritated way; but it doesn't last long before she's determined to figure out just where here is and where she can catch a ride back to the Planet in time for her deadline.
