my heart goes boom boom boom

It's an explosive evening in Chicago.

...no, really.

Daniel Faraday's had a little accident with his lab, you see. He didn't quite blow it up completely, but the flash of light that he unintentionally produced was pretty epic.

That was a little earlier. Now, he's outside the Conrad, looking a little shaken but otherwise okay. His brain hasn't cooked itself inside of his skull, nothing was actually damaged (as far as he can tell), and everything is fine.

Well.

Except for the dead guy down the street from his house, but Dan hasn't noticed him and has no idea that's his fault. It's okay, though. Baron will not be sorely missed.

After a few minutes of staring at the hotel doors, he pulls his journal out of his coat pocket and scribbles a note to Kat.

Somewhere in a secluded part of Grant Park, Maxwell Smart is setting off the last explosives he has with him. A few cufflinks here, some dental floss there, a golf ball...

Don't ask what makes him think this is a good idea, because there is no answer. He does not need an answer, because he has a sword strapped to his back and is therefore awesome. You do not question men with swords.

Tomei does not know what he's done.

And then there is Dr. Barrett, who decided to venture out of his basement cave for the first time in months. He's walking along a street near the park, currently stopped dead in his tracks as he watches the flashes nearby.

Part of him thinks he should maybe call the cops or something, but another part of him is saying this is probably something he should leave alone.

Just in case, he has his cellphone out and ready.
