There is a triumvirate of slightly unstable men in the Conrad basement's common room this afternoon, consisting of Daniel Faraday, Maxwell Smart, and Chuck Noblet.

Dan is sitting in an armchair, drumming his fingertips against his knees as he stares into space. Things are going really, really well for him - his time machine's coming along (only three rats died this week!), the living room floor's been replaced in his house, and he bought something Very Important a few days ago. Naturally, his paranoia is starting to kick in. He's trying to detour his thoughts and figure out what people consider good wedding presents these days - he has no idea what to get Martha and Des, or if he should get anything at all, and if he does should it be from him and Winny? - but that shoves him onto to an entirely different train of thought. Passerbys may wonder why Dan is staring at the wall with a look that says I'm going to throw up.

Max isn't far from Dan, but he's mostly out of sight.

This is because he's hiding behind a couch.

The monsters can't get him if he's back there!

And then we have Chuck, who has somehow aquired a laptop. He's plopped on the couch like the lazy thing he is, watching random video clips. He thinks the one with the dramatic gopher (or whatever the hell that is - Chuck knows it's not a chipmunk, though) is particularly hilarious. Please don't mind him (or do; it won't matter to him, anyway) while he cackles at his screen.

Elsewhere, at the coffee shop, Fitz is doing a crossword puzzle and sipping at a giant cup of chai. He's almost finished, but there's one clue he just can't figure out...

"Hey." He motions at someone. "Do you know a seven letter word for 'game played with a cesta'?"
