The Doctor is trying to slip into the Casa unnoticed, like nothing happened, like he didn't slip out early on Christmas morning to track down an old not-quite friend. Looking like nothing happened is a bit more difficult when he's having trouble easing the frustration from his face, the tension from his body... but maybe, if he's lucky, no one will

The Doctor might recognize this shimmering woman.
She's furious.
"You." Dramatic point. She's not trying to be dramatic, it's just hard not to be dramatic when you're glowing. She seizes his wrist and starts to pull him away from the house. "I've been looking for you. We're finding out who did this, and we're fixing it. Now."
Reply
"But... I didn't... You're glowing." You know, in case she didn't notice.

She grabs a fistful of her white robes. "It's a good thing I don't seem to feel the cold any more, or I would be kind of irritated at losing my coat."
Her eyebrows twitch together. "...What's wrong?"

And then his eyes widen, and he scoots a little further away from her. In case she tries to smack him or anything. You never know. "Why do you think I'd know? I've been... busy."
Reply
You are making her suspicious like Harry occasional makes--made--her suspicious, Doctor. Murphy crosses her arms, eying him. "Busy with what?"

And then comes the question, and he shifts a little awkwardly, glancing to the swing set behind the house. The swing set is fascinating. Really. "Just... busy. Seeing friends. That sort of thing." A friend who has tried to kill him more times than he can count. Yes.

She drops her hand. "Doctor."
It's a tone Harry would recognize all too well, both gentle and unmoving. She looks away. "Look, I can't make you tell me, and I'm not going to try, but."
It's not her place. It's not her place, and it's not her business. "We're getting coffee."
...Don't look for the connection, Doctor. You won't find it.

He frowns a little, shakes his head, and says, "I just meant... there's a thing I need to find..." A person, rather. Since the Master didn't see fit to tell him where he was staying... To be fair, he probably couldn't, but that makes it no less frustrating and yes, the Doctor is fixating a bit. It's hard not to - he's bad enough when it's a simple puzzle to obsess over, and when the Master factors into it...

Murphy takes his hand and gives it a little squeeze. "Maybe I can help."

But he knows that as soon as he steps inside, there's probably going to be someone standing there and very upset with him, and since Murphy's not... Spending a little time with her doesn't seem like a bad idea.
"Oh, alright," he sighs heavily, like he's making some great compromise.

"Most of the people who've seen me either pretend they don't or run the other way, actually." Murphy rolls her shoulders, and the wings spread just a bit. She's getting muscle cramps in muscles that should not reasonably exist. "Well. I know you want to ask."
She inspects a glowing lock of hair. "Ask away. I doubt I'll be able to tell you much."

The Doctor is the least helpful sometimes. ...also, he thinks it's a little funny.

She scowls. "Never mind."
Reply
"Or?" he prompts gently. Come on, Murphy. The more you can tell him, the better he can help. Or maybe he'll just keep smirking like that. Either way.

"Pull out one of m-- one of the feathers."
Grumpy Murphy is very grumpy.

He reaches over, once he's got control of himself, takes hold of a small feather, and pulls it out with a quick yank. Never give the Doctor a reason to poke at something new and shiny (literally, in this case), because he will do it without hesitation.
