Elizabeth got her hands wrapped in bandages at a free clinic. They fixed the burns up as well as they could fix them. She was right. There would be scars. No matter what. They gave her medical lotion stuff and fresh bandages to put on twice a day though she's not sure how she's going to manage that by herself.
And it's Thanksgiving day. She was going to put together some kind of dinner for Josef. Visit some friends... at least Aaron and Zoe. Even stop by her Granny's to check in on her, make sure she hasn't burned the house down. She's stopped instead, sitting on a bench with a plastic bag around her forearm. There are rolls and a can of green beans in it but she can't grab anything without her hands hurting, reminding her that they're not the same. She's not the same so she gave up and left the store and sat on to the bench, staring at her bandaged hands and trying to fight back the terror that rises like sharp bile in her throat and threatens to choke her.
Robin Rice has a bandage around his forearm but that at least is covered by the suit he's wearing. He donated a few boxes full of food to a local soup kitchen. Ruvin said he wasn't helping anyone. He can help plenty of people. It's about all he can do. And Wyatt hasn't returned so he has nothing else. He leans against a railing at the Pier, smoking, staring out at the water, thinking about jumping. Always thinking, never doing. His own personal hell. There's a bitter, pained smile that slips across his face as he climbs up on to the railing, sitting on it, imagining that the fall would probably not kill him. Only injure him a lot.
Luke Roberts is actually happy. He's thankful that he's alive. He's thankful for what he has as small as that might be. He has to stifle a cough every now and then, but he's thankful that he still has strength to stay on his feet and do things. And he's in the kitchen making mixed drinks. He once learned from an old employer how to make a wide range of drinks in case a client should want one. He's trying to regain the skill. He'll happily hand one off to anyone who should look interested!
