Chicago is so much colder than she's used to. This will be the second winter she's endured here and she's still not used to it. It's not even that cold, all things considering, but she's cuddled into a winter coat and wearing a floppy hat with a pom pom on it, because it was the only thing she could find in the Kashtta's closet... And she really doesn't want to think too long about where the hat may have come from.

She's still exhausted from the Plague of Darkness and even after everyone came back after the firstborn plague and she didn't have to take charge of Torchwood, after all, she's worn down. Still, she felt it important to be here if not for the dead and the missing, then for the living. It's just as much for her own benefit as theirs- look how many people have persevered, look how many people will still go on.

Chicago's a terrifying place, but if this many people can survive that, even with so many dead and gone, then maybe they can survive anything.

In the middle of a crowd of people, Juliet smiles a little bit. A slow, sad, hopeful smile.
