There is a teenager lurking outside the Kashtta Tower, doing her best to look as if she's totally supposed to be there, lurking outside this really official-looking tower. it didn't have any sort of name or corporate logo on it, nor hardly any lights on in it.
So Huck is peering through the front doors, trying to see if there's anyone she can get to open the doors. She's pretty sure this is the tower Jason told her about in the journal entry, and she's put this off long enough.
Inside the Kashtta, Babel is in an empty office on the ninth floor, leaning half out a window with a small plastic army man in her hand. There are a ton of them stuck all over the walls around the window, as well as on the windowsill. And on the outside windowsill. Babel herself was in the process of making some of them scale the outer wall, but she's been distracted a little bit by the traffic below, and is just hanging out the window. Starin' at the lights.
A few block away, there's an angel in a bit of an altercation down by the Chicago river. And by 'altercation', we mean the angel is yelling obscenities at a couple of policemen who just tried to bodily evict him from the area. He would have gone quietly enough except that when he didn't respond the first time they spoke to him, they touched him.
And a bit farther away, Arlin is standing thigh-deep in Lake Michigan, in his usual (albeit drenched) slacks and dress shirt, glaring alternately at the small beach ten feet away and his sopping wet phone. It would have been nice to call up someone -- Duncan, maybe -- and yell at them, but apparently the universe had other ideas. He seems to have forgotten that he's still holding the Glock in the other hand; or maybe he figures the sight of someone standing angrily in Lake Michigan holding a dead phone and a gun will be weird enough that people will just know not to ask.
