This jello shot, I think, went straight to my head - this isn't Moscow, this isn't Tokyo…

Dmitri Lang likes meeting new people.

She especially likes meeting new people when those people may have insider information on people she's decided to stalk are interesting, even if those people think she's a figment of their subconscious. (Hey, she doesn't question the delusion; she just looks good in it ( Read more... )

Alex is milling around the entrance to her wing of the tower, waiting for Dmitri - it would be rude to make her find her room, after all. And someone else might waylay her and steal the booze, and that would be tragic.

(Being around CID has turned Alex into a marginal alcoholic. She blames Gene. But that's not unusual, because she blames Gene for most things.)

Dmitri has... some grasp on the people in the Tower. Part of that comes from having the observational skills of a dedicated Angel of Knowledge; part of that is the sheer amount of time she spends here. In any case, she doesn't recognize Alex, and that's a good sign.

So here, Alex, have a girl who looks a bit younger than she is swinging in the doors, balancing a reusable canvas bag of beer over her shoulder.

"Greetings from the outside world," Dmitri grins. It shouldn't be possible to grin a sentence, but this is Dmitri, and one learns to accept that sort of thing. "Would I be right in assuming you're our umpteenth British expat?"

And judging by the beer, this must be Dmitri. Alex is actually more of a wine sort of girl, but she also won't turn down a free drink, being a lush and all. She offers her a hand to shake. "Alex Drake, at your service. Particularly when you're the one with all the booze."

Yep, Alex knows what her priorities are. And the more she drinks, the easier it is to forget about being farther away from Molly than ever. (Except for when she gets to the point of being a maudlin drunk, then it gets harder.)

Dmitri shakes her hand warmly, and with perhaps a bit too much enthusiam. "Dmitri Lang, at yours. Once Angel of Knowledge, sometimes sociologist, part-time political pundit, freelance journalist, private investigator, extemporary morale officer, and purveyor of things to do with info and the human soul. Imported, like you, from Elsewhere. And-" she opens the bag, withdrawing one of the very sizable bottles of beer, and flips it out to offer Alex, "this is tradition."

So far as her meeting British DIs goes. Sam really could have warned her.

At the moment, there's a Suzie in the Tower. Just... Around. Dmitri registers as someone she's seen in passing, but the problem with studiously avoiding Tosh is it also tends to lead to studiously ignoring Dmitri, pretty much by extension.

Of course, now there's no Tosh around, and Dmitri appears to be looking for someone.

"Need any help finding whoever... or whatever... you're after?"

Dmitri was bopping along her way, figuring that she'd run into this Drake person sooner or later, and... to be honest, having someone stop her and ask her that in the Kashtta is somewhat surprising. She's got most of Torchwood trained to just kinda accept that she happens from time to time, and most of the other people living here would probably not be the taking-charge helping-out types.

She been kinda peripherally aware of Suzie's existence in the Tower, but never really crossed paths with her. Probably not Alex, then. Oh, well.

"Uh. Yeah; lookin' for a Londoner named Alex Drake," she says. "Newish; thinks I'm a manifestation of her subconscious." She shifts the bag of booze, extending a hand. "Dmitri Lang. Tell me I'm infamous."

"I've heard a few things," Suzie says, with a faint smile. Her handshake's firm, but not too firm. "Suzie Costello. Possibly also infamous, depending on who you talk to. And as far as Alex Drake goes..." She thinks for a moment. "I can't tell you where she is now, but I can point you in the general direction of her room."

Suzie talks to Ianto. Ianto knows everything. Somehow it all works out.

"Everything's a matter of finding the right sour...ces," Dmitri says, and then tilts her head at Suzie.

Suzie. She knows that name. She definitely...

"Soozee?" she asks. If not, well, then there will be some deflecting to do, but. "Wouldn't happen to be friends with an adorable little girl, grey hair, about..." she bends down to wave her hand just under a foot off the ground, "yea tall, quite the cuddly little thing, refreshingly forthright, would you?"
