While not fourteen (try twenty-two), Julian Sark is no stranger to having his brain played with by governments (or rather one ex-KGB agent, technically) and is also a certifiable genius. This is not important. The narration just likes parallelism.
Either way, Julian Sark is not having what anyone could call 'the best week ever.' It is quite possible that he's not having the best existence ever, but this is all due to stress of a nature that he would have never had in his own world, because crazy, psychopathic demons didn't, and this is the narration's words, not his, 'own his ass.'
Of course, you'd never guess the amount of anguish this whole 'try not to upset the nice demon and make her string you up by your intestines' thing is causing him by the look on his face. His head on the other hand? Is in panic mode.
Not that most people would know that and he's making it a habit to avoid odd little waifish brown-haired girls.
Odd little blonde girls, however, don't exactly register.
It takes him a minute to realize that... Yes, there is a small blonde teenager talking to him. That's unusual and it definitely gets his hackles raised, because... Why?
"Didn't your mother ever tell you that it's unwise to talk to strangers?" He asks, cocking his head to the side.
He could have ignored her, but he's not thinking clearly and hasn't been for awhile now. Calisto's got his head completely screwed over in that respect... Because yes, he can completely blame his lack of foresight on Calisto.

She's going to not freak him out too badly. Yet. She thinks he's cute.
"Where are you going?"

She wants to talk to him, because his head's all twisted 'round. He's interesting.
And she kinda feels bad for him.
