do what it makes you [backdated to late last night]

There is a wolf lurking in a suburb of Chicago, sticking to the shadows and watching the few people left out on the streets wander by with a distinctly predatory glare. She's skinny and hungry, and larger than any of these people. And while she's doing her best to stay in the shadows, stay mostly unnoticed, it's getting really, really hard. ( Read more... )

George Ness is a man of less than reasonable intelligence, but he would happily point out that if he were a man of reasonable intelligence, he'd have better things to do than be in a gang. At the present moment, he is treading all over what amounts to Huck's territory like he owns it. There is a reason for this. It's because he plans to own it. The locale's nice and the inn's a good hideout for when Toby's mom's basement is compromised by her needing to do her laundry ( ... )

Huck doesn't register the five guys as threats. They're just more temptation, more prey, and as much as she wants to just launch herself at that little one flailing, she doesn't. He smells frightened, even if he's not all that small, and those are the ones that are easiest to take down after the small ones. They trip up, do stupid things. She pauses, across the street, turns slightly and scents the air. Looks back at them.

Then forces herself to keep trotting away. The park will have something to eat. Here is not the time nor place.

Sometime before Huck makes it to the park, the five guys (plus the sixth member of their team who was off getting a hot dog when the plan was formed) have found rope and have tied it off to make a few makeshift choke-chains. Kevin even walked into a local pet store to find a muzzle when he was informed of the plan.

Georgie's rather proud of his plan- Tommy and Johnny will sneak out and rope the wolf and hold her until Petey can get the muzzle on her and then they'll hold her for ransom or something.

...Yeah, George doesn't often think that far ahead.

Hiding in the mouth of two alleys, Johnny and Tommy wait until the wolf starts to walk by and then throw the makeshift lassos around her neck simultaneously and it's only by a miracle that they hit their mark. They pull the ropes tight (not tight enough to choke her to death, but tight enough to make her not want to struggle too much.

Huck doesn't miss them following her, but she doesn't really register them as a threat until it's a bit too late and the ropes are around her neck. Part of her is wondering how they even managed to do that, but a larger part of her is simply snarling and thrashing, trying to get her teeth on the ropes.

Then they pull a bit tighter, and she slows when struggling means cutting off her air. Growling, she eyes both of the guys holding the ropes and lowers her head a bit. She's still for now, but the sort of still that says she could spring at any moment, and they don't know which way. Either way, when she does, it'll be for the throat.

There's another wolf in the city - who, for the most part, has managed to keep herself locked up and away. Years of doing so have quelled the urge to kill, to even turn if she can focus all her energy on not doing so. But the full moon brings out the worst kind of urges, and she finds herself shifting before she can even begin to control what's happening.

Interestingly enough, it seems as though the lock on her cage has grown a bit rusty.

Fifteen minutes later, she's slinking along a darkened alleyway outside the city, trying to avoid any and all urges to eat.

Though she wouldn't pass up a rabbit or a squirrel if it happened to pass by.

Huck trots by the alley a bit later, stopping just after it as she catches a whiff of other wolf. Normally she doesn't care one whit about other shifters in her territory (never mind that she's getting quite close to the outskirts of what she considers hers), but the wolf instinct is just a little overpowering at this point. She's only 16, only been changing for a few years now -- she can't quite suppress them at this point, only just barely stop herself from acting on them when she can.

Besides, she's a little curious anyway.

So she slinks into the alley after Avery, keeping close to the wall but not necessarily trying to be at all sneaky. The low growl she lets out doesn't really help either.

Avery can sense the other before she sees her - there's a breeze that picks up, and her ears catch, flicking back and forth as the scent overwhelms her nose. She sniffs once, looking up, and blinks in the direction it's coming from.

As far as she can tell, this one's still young, but there's a familiarity about it, and interest wins out over inconvenience.

The other's shadow precedes her, and Avery blinks again as she finally slinks into view, greeting her with a huff of breath.

Huck stops, watching the other wolf for a moment, wariness in her eyes. This wolf seems older, but not an immediate threat. She trots forward a bit more, the growl dying out, replaced with a few small returning huffs.

She circles Avery a bit, the wariness dissipating. This is, after all, her territory, and she'll be damned if she's going to let some strange wolf run into her in it and see her cower and whine. Not that she would do that. It's just...the confidence is important. So she's just going to circle this wolf, nose twitching, gauging how careful she should be, whether to approach or not.
