Jo is in Grant Park early. She is pacing nervously, a finger in her mouth, shaking lightly. Rusty will show up. She will be fine. She has to be, for Jamal's sake. And Susie. She would take care of Susie as well, assuming the girl showed up tonight.
The heroin helped with all of it. It made everything just enough not real that she could properly take care of the kid(s). There's no way with the obsessive tracts of her mind that she could take care of them otherwise, no matter how protective she got.
Still, she would hide it from them. They didn't need to know. They didn't need to know how hurt she is. They didn't need to know anything. She just needed to give them a chance, that thing she had been denied.
