There are plenty of things that could've been behind the door. KGB agents ready to assassinate her for no apparent reason, or take her back to Hungary, or CIA agents trying to get her cooperation in some plot involving a certain Russian Grand Master.

But what she was not expecting was a white room. An empty white room. Well, there's some sort of... contraption in one corner, and a couple of chairs, a bed, and a television in another, and when she turns to look behind her...

Well. Not empty, but very bare.

So she doesn't stay there. Because obviously when one finds oneself in an entirely different place than one expected to be, one should go wandering around aimlessly instead of waiting to find out where one is.

Which is how Florence Vassey came to be standing in the doorway to the common room, looking perplexedly at the room, the occupants, and the doors leaning against the wall.
