a waking dream of life and light

[Daniel is somewhere in the park. His special power is remote viewing - so yes, he's just witnessed his own death. *pets him* I have no qualms with any pups remembering him! A caveat, however: Dan is very likely to sink deeper into the realm of hysteria, should he be bombarded with people who know him that he doesn't remember. But don't worry! He'll calm down! ... eventually!]

Daniel immediately notices two things when the latest flash passes:

1. Charlotte's body is gone.
2. He's not on the island.

He isn't sure which is more alarming.

After a split second of thought he shuts his eyes, draws in a deep breath and holds it, then begins mentally counting the seconds before he has to breathe again - he decides that when he has to take another breath, he will open his eyes. If he's not back on the island, he will know that something has gone very, very wrong.

Unfortunately, by the time he reaches "four," something else has his attention: a memory. It's the most clear recollection of a moment in time he's had in years, and it's absolutely terrifying. From his spot in the corner of what appears to be a café he sees a man with a gun, sees people whose names and faces he can't currently place, feels himself moving, hitting the ground, staring down the barrel of -

He opens his eyes with a gasp that sends a sharp pain through his chest and promptly collapses against the grass, one hand curled around his side.

This is - this is beyond the realm of "very wrong." Daniel doesn't even know what he should classify this as, other than "a nightmare I'd like to wake up from." He's not where he should be, nothing's familiar, and he's just remembered what appeared to be his own death.

That, paired with the loss of Charlotte, is enough to send him into a fit of hysterical screaming.
