This whole CLF thing has Revan more than a little twitchy, and staying inside the Conrad in the hopes of avoiding the whole thing hasn't helped. In fact, in many ways it seems to have made things a bit worse, for she now has a rather bad case of Cabin Fever

She takes a seat on the edge of the fountain several feet down from Revan, completely oblivious to the strange water. She crosses her legs and pulls a sketchbook out of a messenger bag that has an overly-cheerful bumblebee painted on it. Potato the German Shepherd lies down on the ground at her feet, keeping a watchful eye on the park.
Bean has already started sketching the fountain when she finally notices the odd splashing. She stares at the water for a long minute, then looks over at Revan and puts two and two together.
She smiles a little, not looking confused in the least. Then she flips a page in her notebook and starts sketching Revan instead.

"What are you drawing?" She asks, after a moment. A few seconds later she sees Potato and grins even wider, waving at the dog. "Hi there!" She turns back to Bean and asks, "Is he yours?"

"Oh, um, it's you actually because it was really nifty what you were doing with the water, and ideas just sort of catch like that and, um, I hope you don't mind...but, you know, if it bothers you I'll stop."
Potato peers up at Revan with a curious look, no doubt sensing her magic with whatever part of him it is that can also sense seizures on the way. Bean smiles a little.
"Oh, yeah! He's mine. And I'm his. This is Potato, my service dog."

Revan smiles at Potato and holds out a hand for him to sniff. She's found it's the best way to greet dogs in general. "He's a gorgeous dog." She looks back up at bean. "Potato, huh? Interesting name." She pauses and says, "I'm Revan," by way of introduction.

She looks up again and peers at Revan. "Is it really dangerous? I don't really know what's going on. Like, um. Who are they so angry at?"
Potato leans forward and sniffs delicately at Revan's hand, bobbing his head a little as he decides that she's safe. Bean gives his head a scritch. "Thanks. I'm Bean."

She frowns thoughtfully. "Well, they're saying it's Wanderers, people who've come through the Rift, but it looks like they're painting Supernaturals, Angels, and Demons with the same brush. I read that one angel was killed simply because she let her wings out. They thought she was a Wanderer too." She shakes her head. "I knew her, too... not well, but I had met her once. I liked her." She sighs. "I just want it to stop..." she mutters under her breath.
It occurs to Revan that she doesn't know if Bean is among the supernatural community in the first place. She's got a good feeling about her, though. And Jedi instincts are usually very good, too. And the fact that Bean didn't seem bothered by her manipulation of the water is a good sign, too.

"Angels and Demons? Ohmygosh! They're really real? I, I always just thought I was seeing things! And my parents would be all 'Don't lie, don't be silly, Bean', and all. I mean, I remember seeing people every once in awhile with wings or doing unusual things, like with the water just now, and for the longest time I really did think I was the only unusual one, but--! Wow."
Bean pauses for breath and shakes her hair out of her eyes.
"But that's awful, that they're targeting people just because they're different. It's like every other group like that, huh? I don't really get why people don't just...you know, learn better by now. It's been like that since the beginning though, I guess."
Reply
Revan gives Bean a small smile. "Yeah, they're real. And there are plenty of people around who have... unusual abilities."
"'Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it'," Revan quotes, her voice quiet. "I don't remember where I heard that, but it seems relevant in this case." Of course, she doesn't know a whole lot about this world's history, not being from it, but... Bean did say it's been this way for a while.

Potato shakes himself off and Bean reaches down to scratch his head. The dog gives a contented sigh.
"Oh, yeah! That was, um. Umm...I can't remember. That one guy. But it's sad." Bean shrugs. "You just sort of learn to go with it and avoid the worst of it, I guess."

Quietly, she continues, "So, I assume from what you've said that you're a supernatural... If you don't mind, could you tell me about your abilities?" As has been said many times before, Revan enjoys discussing people's powers. It's something she can relate to, and possibly help them with. So here, have a potential mentor!
She doesn't directly say that she's a Wanderer, though. She's unsure if there are CLF people in the vicinity.

Bean isn't sure if it's completely wise to tell Revan this, seeing as she doesn't really know her that well--and there's this CLF business to think about--but she has an amulet of her own in her pocket. It's one of Bean's oldest workings, one that has protected her many times in the past.

She adds, somewhat hesitantly, "If he ever shows up again, I'll put you in touch with him if you like."
"Supernatural humans is what they're called," Revan adds in response to Bean's first question. "They're not angels, not demons, just humans native to this world who have supernatural abilities. There are a number of different kinds, but I don't know much about them."

She positively beams. She has only ever met a handful of people who seemed a little out of the ordinary, who seemed a little like her. Even then, it was only really in passing, just a feeling she got when she met eyes with someone on the street or caught something out of the corner of her eye. The idea of a teacher, of someone who can help perfect her talents, is almost too good to be true.
"I had no idea the world was so--I mean, it's like a fantasy book! Like Lord of the Rings or something. Are there a lot of Supernaturals?"
Reply
The Lord of the Rings thing is lost on Revan. She hasn't really had a chance to go through any fiction from this world yet. Most of what she's read is non-fiction.
She shrugs a bit. "I personally haven't met too many supernaturals, but I know there's definitely more than I've come in contact with. More than you'd generally think, at first. As I understand it, proximity to the Rift has a lot to do with their powers, so I think Chicago will have a great number of them. This area seems to have a lot of Rift openings."
((OOC: Aiden is another one of my characters, and he will be back eventually ;). Maybe in a month or so >.>))

Potato gets to his feet and nudges Bean's leg--not in the way he does when he's trying to tell her a seizure is coming, but in the way he does when he's trying to tell her that he needs to pee. Bean gets to her feet as well and walks him the few feet to the grass.
"That's really amazing," Bean says, standing with her back to Potato--she has always believed in giving animals their privacy. "I wonder what the Rift really is? I wonder why it's Chicago..."

She shrugs in response to the Rift questions. "The Rift is a hole in spacetime. It snatches people from their home universes and/or worlds and drops them here. This isn't the only one it's in, if I recall; there are plenty of other Rifts around the world. I have no clue why so much of it is concentrated in this area, though." She shrugs again. "My home universe never had its own version of this planet, so I don't know of any historical significance this area may have in regards to the supernatural."
"One of the things that really pisses me off about CLF is that they seem to think the people who fall through the Rift come here on purpose. They don't. There's no choice in the matter; the Rift just takes them whenever it pleases. They've got no control over it, and yet CLF insists they come here to take over the city or something." Revan shakes her head. "Sometimes I don't get people."
