This is not the best afternoon to leave the safety of wherever you happen to call home, but Bianca de Luca is not about to let the frigid winter air keep her from a drink and a smoke. She's bundled up in a coat, headed towards Terrence's bar, and lighting a cigarette, not really paying much attention to her surroundings, because she's used to this path by now.
She's got a list of things to do before she leaves for Sicily, not the least of which is calling Vito and telling him that she already promised she'd be down for Christmas and it's not necessary for him to kidnap her and no, he's not allowed to punch her ward in the kidneys (do you even understand the purpose of a guardian angel?).
If she had any idea that she was about to become a victim, merely because of really, really screwed-up circumstances, she might have stayed inside and gotten drunk in the Conrad and commiserated with Ariel, since she still owes her that drink, but no one really expects to wind up as the target of an assassin when they haven't done anything wrong.
Except, apparently, have a ward someone wants out of the city, and the best motive for anything is usually revenge.
