It has occurred to Gwen that she should have told Owen not to wander off and do something stupid. Then, it's also occurred to her that he probably wouldn't have listened if she had told him that, so she's trying not to blame herself for that oversight

He's still writing in his journal, staring at what he's already written. It helps. He can't think clearly.
"Whatelsewhatelse... said it was something he played in Evil Agent academy. Don't know why I thought that was important - bloody drugs, Juliet couldn't have thought to - never mind. Not all terrestrial chemicals, something about a sonic probe - should be able to identify some of them with a sonic probe. Those-" He swallows. "The formulas. That had something do do with them. Meant to show us we weren't - didn't know what we were dealing with."
He pauses over one line, squinting at it like he can't read his own handwriting. Tilts his head.
"...did have a message for you, though," he says after a moment. "Like you, specifically. Said you should give up. ...also that you were pretty."
He should be making fun of that, shouldn't he? Or possibly he shouldn't. Fucking meds.
"There was a note, too, something to give to Tyler - Thane trying to cut a deal. Is there a reason he calls him 'little sister,' or am I just dense?"
There may be something he's missing, but he's trying, he really is.

She sighs and rubs a hand over her face, trying to think. It's been a long... month, and this just keeps getting harder and harder... "Was there anything else? Anything at all? I know it's hard, but I'd really rather not watch the city explode tonight." She remembers this. She remembers bombs going off in Cardiff, and how it felt like the end of the world... It's not happening here. She's not letting it happen here.
