Karu was out for a walk. Today, the fact that her walk took her near the Kashtta Tower and its assorted mysteries was actually a coincidence, but it was a coincidence which resulted in her making a new friend, so that's... that's Chicago, for you.
The friend in question seems to be a blue box. This is a little weird, but it - she - said hello when Karu walked past, so Karu thought it was only polite to say hello back, and once the usual "What are you?"s were dispensed of, well, they got to talking about the philosophy of life and humans.
Karu still can't shake the idea that someone's standing on a roof somewhere with a bug and one of those new directed sound beams, but if they are, they make a pretty good conversationalist....
