I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark, living in a powderkeg and giving off sparks.

In a Main Gauche sunroom, Andrew Wells is sitting upside down in a chair with his camera, rewatching old footage and snickering to himself. One of these days he's going to find some way to invest in a laptop and some video editing software and actually get this documentary off the ground ( Read more... )

Meanwhile, Farley Claymore has finally found his way down to the basement again. It's not that he's planning to move back down there right now - he's just too used to living in the actual hotel to seriously consider it - but now that the First among Fanatics is dead...

He's on his way to the Rift room in the basement, partly out of nostalgia (it was where he crossed, after all), and partly to be away from people. His anger against Tesla has worn down, he's still a bit annoyed. Though not so much that he doesn't notice the open door.

"Hello?"

Mitsuki looks up from checking her cell phone compulsively, half-expecting text messages from her team back in Tokyo. It would somehow make her feel better if she thought the world was falling to shit without her there, but her kids can handle life without her.

"Hi," she says, blinking a little. "Did you need anything?"

Well, a lot of people seem to be seeking her out for one reason or another. Her wings are out and she stretches them a little compulsively like she's trying to make herself look bigger- not in a threatening way, just in a, 'I'm totally in control' way or something like that.

Okay, now Farley definitely wasn't expecting that. He steps back just a little, taking in the fact that this woman just sprouted wings. Something in the back of his mind automatically registers her as an angel, but for the most part, he only seems a little taken aback.

"Oh! Erm, sorry, just noticed the door was open and..."

After a moment, he realizes he should probably introduce himself. "Er, Farley Claymore." He pauses, then he adds in a slightly smaller voice, "wanderer."

No, not nervous about the fact that she's an angel at all.

She tilts her head to the side, somewhere between amused at that reaction and something else entirely. She pulls her wings back a little bit and takes a step foward.

"Yeah, I didn't close it, in case someone was looking for me." She figured he was a wanderer from that reaction- then again, some of the natives freak when they see an angel for the first time. "I'm Mitsuki Takahashi. I'm an archangel and I don't eat wanderers for lunch."

She felt compelled to add that, because he does seem a little nervous of her. It's going to take some time for the wanderers to trust her kind, apparently. Not that she blames them much.

Now Farley looks a bit embarrassed. "Oh, no, it's not... It's actually pretty obvious, isn't it?" He knows that he should be a bit more calm about this, especially now that the Chicago war-front is done with, but her wings flared, and, well...

"Actually, I came down here to get a good look around - I was only here a few days before everything went boom, so I didn't get to spend much time down here." And what little time he did spend here was spent hiding in his room.

"It's perfectly safe, I promise." She mutters an old Japanese idiom in her natural Osaka-ben dialect (God, it's been so long since that slipped out- she's been speaking traditional Japanese so long because it's easier to be taken seriously when you don't sound like a bumpkin). The actual translation is not important, but it's meant to convey assurance.

"A lot of people have already moved back down. The hotel's overexposed and there are too many normal people around, so I can see why a lot of them would move back now that the danger's passed." This time her wings do mantle a bit in irritation, but she realizes that's probably what's making him uncomfortable and pulls it back again. Damn wings have a mind of their own.

Farley raises an eyebrow at the idiom, mainly because he doesn't recognize the language, though he recognizes the tone she used.

"Actually, I have been considering it off-and-on, and it does make sense." But he hasn't - he's still sort of getting used to the war being over, though recent events have been taking his mind off things a bit.
