Martha Jones has spent the better part of the week at the Conrad hotel, as much as her house with a random smattering of people has become home to her, the Conrad will always hold a special place in her heart. It was her home for so long. She's leaving the hotel, actually, for the first time since she entered to walk through the park, take a break

Until Bianca finds out and smacks him silly. But he's going to enjoy himself.
He sits himself down at the bar, the pain mostly gone (without drugs, which he's not going to think about too much, thank you,) and orders a beer.
Hey, he's never claimed to be classy.
So now he's going to sit and mope brood. Interrupt him, JD. Interrupt him. The narration begs you.

So he makes his way over to where Vaughn is sitting, not having actually met him, but recognizing him from around the hotel.
"Hey, you look like you could use some comp'ny? Some drinking comp'ny that is, cause no one should drink alone, especially when they look all... not happy."
The narration does not know why he's saying company like that. Sometimes it is better not to know.

"You shouldn't drink alone in case you need to get home," he says, unintentionally rhyming there. "And I think maybe it's time you stopped drinking altogether. I'll call a cab."
Oh Vaughn. You're a Boy Scout to everyone, even drunks that are bothering you when all you want to do is drink and brood. Too bad JD probably doesn't need a cab, and is also not as drunk as you seem to think he is.
You're not getting out of this one that easy.

JD shakes his head to himself.
"I'm kind of like this normally so- But hey, you look kind of sad. Want to talk about it? I promise it feels good to... y'know, talk!"
Reply
He also doesn't really want to talk about what's bothering him. But hey... the guy's drunktipsy, so it's not like he'd remember anyway.
"There's a demon," he says after downing some more beer, "who looks exactly like my..." Girlfriend? Lover? "Friend," he finishes awkwardly.
Reply
"Seriously? A... bad demon?" Thanks to Elashte, JD now believes in the existence of good demons. "And you probably didn't figure that out until it was too late, huh?"
He frowns, looking sloppily apologetic.
Reply
"You could say that," says, almost maybe chuckling. "I... did figure it out. After a while." A long while, far too long. But Vaughn's not thinking about that right now. Or ever, if he has his way.

And then a quick subject change, in case he's not quite drunk enough to talk about it. He waves a hand toward the bartender.
"Do you- I can buy you a drink if you want. I get most of mine free cause Ariel pays for whatever I buy at the hotel, but..."
Reply
Vaughn doesn't even think about it. "No, no thanks," he says. "I can pay for my beer. Thank you, though." Another pause while he processes everything. "You work here?"
Reply
JD shakes his head.
He smiles a little. "No. Well, I do, but I actually live here. Upstairs. Fourth floor. I really shouldn't just go around announcing that to people, but uhm, yeah. Working here's what I do cause I get... bored. Again with the announcing."
Reply
"When you get bored?" Vaughn smiles amusedly. "What do you do?" Because having a job, especially one you do when you get bored, sounds wonderful to Vaughn. Really.
Reply
"Bell hop here at the hotel!" JD exclaims with much more excitement than is really necessary. "Ariel's giving them away. Jobs that is. Do you know Ariel? She kind of owns the hotel. Guardian angel. Neat lady. Anyway, she'll give you a job if you want one."
Reply
"I've met her," he admits slowly. "I know her ward better." Oh god, Sark. Vaughn's not thinking about him, not thinking about him, not thinking about him. Yes, he's going to be immature about this.

He instantly closes his mouth, because VAUGHN JD is not Weiss, no matter how much you may miss him. You can't just go around saying those things to non-agency people. He looks nervously for a moment at his beer, wondering if it's perhaps drugged and maybe he should get out of here before he says anything else stupidly revealing.

"But it's better than doing nothing, right? Believe me, man, I used to be a doctor. My passion. Y'know? It's not easy at all doing the switch, but I couldn't handle sitting around doing nothing anymore."
