Lina Inverse, Bandit-Killer, Dragon Slayer, She Who Is Not To Be Messed With, is deeply troubled.
Never mind the fact that she’s standing in a room that looks nothing the interior of any tavern she’s ever seen (and never mind the fact that she wasn’t anywhere near a tavern a minute ago in the first place). Never mind that she has no idea what the hell just happened. Never mind any of that, because clearly the real problem is that she can’t use her magic. She knows this because she’s been screaming Fireball spells at what appears to be some sort of weird vortex-type-thing and nothing is happening.
This is cause for alarm in her book. Alarm and riotous anger. Neither are very conductive to a pleasant atmosphere, which is bound to be even less pleasant which she figures out where she is.
