To see a truck transporting goods throughout the city is not necessarily something out of the norm. In fact, it is a daily occurrence. However, today, a transport was sent out. A transport with no real destination and drop off. However, it does pull to park several blocks down from one Conrad Hotel ( Read more... )

Vaughn is sitting in the lobby, reading a newspaper he picked up somewhere, when the door to the Conrad opens. Vaughn lifts his head, only to see Sydney walk into the hotel. He's about to put down his paper and greet her, when he sees who's coming behind her.

Sark. Julian Sark. Vaughn stands, about to say something, warn Syd, anything, when she pulls out a gun and shoots him in the leg.

Vaughn falls to the floor, clutching his leg, his mind racing. Oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit. He looks up at her, as Sark wraps his arm around her waist. She grins, and in a moment, he knows. That she's betrayed him, or he's been fooled again, or she's been doubled and the real Syd's dead. And he starts to cry. And there he is, crying and bleeding on the floor, with his worst enemy and the love of his life standing over him, both of them smirking.

Vaughn's never felt more worthless in his life, and he's scared, of what will happen next, of what they'll do to him, of what Jack'll do to him when he finds out.

In the basement, Kiki is just sitting there, staring at her hands. They're covered in blood, and are shaking so badly the little droplets are flying all over the place. She didn't dare look anywhere but at her hands, because there are bodies surrounding her, in piles. And Kiki knows what happened, she knows even if she can't remember. But she doesn't REMEMBER! And that's the worst part. It's not how she imagined it, it's a million times worse. She felt dirty and oh god she was going to Fall now, wasn't she? She was a failed angel, just like she failed at everything else. The bodies were proof.

She can't even bring herself to start crying. And that's the scariest part. There's no real regret there, just a numb panic. She's not at all concerned for them, just for herself. And that scares her, more than anything else.

The funny thing? No one can see Sark and Sydney, or the piles of bodies. There's nothing there. It's all in their heads.

Funny, huh?
