April is, as most of the Conrad wanderers are, for their own comfort, upstairs now. She's been upstairs for quite some time now, as a matter of fact, if a couple weeks counts as "quite some time

You can't let someone as active as Sark is lie in bed for weeks at a time. It's an unspoken rule or something. Never mind the fact that Ariel doesn't follow those particular rules and never mind the fact that for a very long time moving was just a very bad idea in general, because as of right now, Sark feels like he's half stir-crazy and that's while still on enough drugs to choke a horse. Hence why he's walking the halls in the manner of one who is highly stoned, but trying to pretend that he's doing a damn good job of pretending he's not. He just needs to remember what moving feels like and, barring doing anything that might tear his stitches, he should be completely fine
( ... )
Well, Julian's super-observant when he's sober anyway, but he's not exactly at his best right now. In fact, he's trying to convince himself that HIS UNFOCUSED EYES ARE TOTALLY LYING, but he's not counting on it.
Oh hi, there's a wall. Maybe he should lean against that for a moment. "Believe it or not, I know what 'recently sexed' looks like."
....Yes, he really just said that. We'll blame the drugs.
"I... I don't know what you're talking about," she says. She doesn't want to admit sex to Julian, somehow. For some reason. Probably involving brotherly things.
That's probably for the best, because Sark would rather love to go on pretending that April doesn't have sex ever. That was a nice pipe dream. He thought for a second there it was less of a pipe dream and more of an actual truth, but whatever.
"Then I guess I'll pretend I don't either and we can both pretend like this conve- oh please tell me that's not Kara's room."
The narration isn't sure what's more unsettling, the fact that Sark knows that's Kara's room (he made it a point to find out as if that will somehow make her unexpected appearances less unexpected- little does he know- although maybe she switches rooms just to fuck with him or something for all he knows) or the fact that he cut him himself off like that with absolutely no change in his tone whatsoever.
"Kara's my friend," April says, a little reprovingly. She understands why he doesn't like Kara too much (Kara really really enjoys wigging him out, April knows this), but Kara is her friend. So he should be nice.
Yes, because apparently all the psychics have a club or something or so goes his logic at this point. It went out with his good sense, apparently.
It could be worse. He could be hallucinating. He hasn't gotten that far into a drug-induced haze at least. He'd be really concerned about his brain if he was hallucinating April having sex with Kara.
"I have nothing against Kara," he says slowly, which is... Mostly true. He finds it hard to not have something against a person who gets perverse pleasure in making him uncomfortable, but other than that, she's... Probably a perfectly reasonable crazy person. "I just..."
He trails off. Even if he was sober right now, how to finish that sentence would elude him desperately, so he'll just leave it hanging and continue to enjoy leaning against the wall. Yes, that's what he'll do.
Kara knows how to make an entrance. And that last comment, Sark, was her cue.
The door to the room swings open, and out steps Kara, wearing... a loose, overlarge sweater that probably belongs to April, a pair of underwear, and very little else. She smiles perfectly warmly at Sark, with something ever so slightly predatory (and a little sadistic) underneath her smile.
"I just scare him," she says conversationally to April. "Hello, Julian."
Now see... That just proves a point, really. And it's really not nice to creep out a (former) spy on drugs, because he's more on edge than usual... You'd think the drugs would fix that, but apparently they don't (not that Kara or most anyone else really cares about being nice to him). Thus why Sark has decided that not leaning against the wall is a good plan (and the process of him going from leaning against the wall and then not leaning against the wall was rather comical to see) and is now visibly twitchy.
And... He'll be looking anywhere but at Kara right now. He's not a prude, but there are some things he really doesn't want to think about right now. Kara having sex with April? One of those things.
"You're often terrifying, it's true," he mumbles in a mildly disconcerted tone. "I don't expect making me live with the notion that the two of you were engaged is punishment enough, is it?"
He's so cute when he's trying to be articulate while stoned. It's a miracle any of that was discernible with the way he's muttering right now.
Kara doesn't seem to hear April. Then again, considering she's psychic and hears a lot of things that don't even get said aloud, it's very probably just a very good act. Her lips twitch, ever so slightly.
"Who says I'm punishing you?" she says innocently. "You haven't done anything, have you?" Besides, you know, trying to assassinate Shepard with Martha, but he was shot then. And she doesn't care that much, considering Martha wasn't hurt.
Really, Kara has just decided Sark deserves a little karma and she is the one to bring it to him.
Sark needs karma. Karma is good for his formerly-absent-until-he-met-April-and-realized-he-had-one soul. Sark just doesn't think that Sark needs karma... Or dogma, or dharma, or any concept in that general panthenon.
And somehow that explains why he's just sort of staring at Kara and blinking at her because he's not good at dealing with her when he's sober, much less when he's... Not sober.
"No one. I just assumed that one has to deserve..." He trails off, because even in this state, he knows full well there's enough in his head a psychic could pull out and use for justification of whumping him... Or something. "Never mind."
He gives her the look of someone who is not entirely focused trying to be focused long enough to look stern. "You're enjoying this far too much, aren't you?"
This encompasses a hell of a lot of things, really. The fact that he failed, the fact that he got shot, the fact that she weirds him out, the fact that her and April together weird him out... You know, that sort of thing.
Kara laughs. Perfectly innocent to most people, but probably a little unsettling if you're Sark. "I think I'm enjoying it just as much as is appropriate." Which doesn't really tell you anything at all.
She pauses, and then folds her arms over her chest, leaning back against the wall. Her long, bare legs stretch out in front of her, one ankle hooked over the other. "I could have warned you," she says conversationally, "but you wouldn't have listened."
At that last little thought, April's head snaps up and she glares more than a little at Kara. Many things she'll put up with, especially from Kara, but not that.
He's not a good person, precisely. April knows this. She's under no illusions that he hasn't killed many people, done many bad things. But she does not think he deserved to be shot.
"Hăo le!" she snaps at Kara, reinforcing that with a wave of disapproval.
No one gets away with saying (or thinking quite clearly and loudly when they know she can hear) that her Julian deserved to get shot. Not even Kara.
Kara's eyes flicker over to April, without turning her head or the slightest change in her expression. Kara is very much used to being the queen of her own world, and there's not much anyone can do to rebuke her in certain moods - even people she happens to be fond of. "I didn't say killed," she responds mildly, not quite an apology.
She didn't actually say anything, but communication takes on an odd and fuzzy definition with two psychics, one just learning control and the other completely without it.
"Don't matter," April says with a scowl. "Ain't true, ain't right. You leave him be."
It amuses the narration, randomly, that half the time April sounds almost more proper and well-raised than Sark, and the other half she sounds like Kaylee. It's an interesting combination.

"Seeing what?" she asks, totally innocent. "I was... seeing a friend. That's all."
Really, Sark. She's telling the truth.
