I'm not jealous, I don't get moved by much. I'm not enraged, not insecure as such.

Tension is high after the debacle last night and while Sark couldn't care less either way about anything as long as it doesn't put his or April's life in danger, he's not immune to the feeling, although his tension comes from other, mostly unrelated places. Vaughn being here comes to mind and while that's less of an issue than Romana going nuclear ( Read more... )

Politics are the Vesmier's strong suit. They're what have defined his life for most of a millenium. He knows their ins and outs, their fickle natures.

...of course, the politics he's actually experienced are Gallifreyan, where even catastrophes generally take weeks, if not months, to play out. So, as embarassing as it might be, he's actually been taken by surprise by the events here recently.

So now he's in the common room. Thinking.

He's aware of everyone else there, faint at the back of his mind. Background noise. But one man is standing out a bit more than the others.

After a while - a good ten minutes after he walked in - he sends a polite psychic ping in Sark's direction.

Excuse the interruption. You're projecting.

No one with as much good sense and decorum as Sark (generally) has should ever jump quite that high when surprised, although if he weren't used to the whole 'voices in his head' thing by now, he might have jumped a great deal higher than that and deeply contemplated exactly when he lost his mind and why wasn't he aware of it.

Still, even when he's almost gotten used to the whole psychics thing, it still weirds him out when he runs into them, and the only other psychic who has ever pinged him like that was April and that is... Definitely not April.

Somewhere in between jumping like a scared rabbit and that realization, he manages to get some level of his decorum back. "You know, there really are an unsettling amount of you people around," he muses out loud, without actually bothering to look around.

Which... Addresses nothing, honestly, but that's Sark for you.

The Vesmier arches an eyebrow at his reaction, considers carefully, and opts for a vocal response.

"My apologies. I didn't mean to startle you." He pauses a beat, examining Sark's face, brushing over his mind. Not invasively - there are very strict moral rules against that - but taking in whatever's spilling out. "You were unconsciously projecting your emotions. I thought you might want to be aware."

"It's quite all right, and I suppose that's good to know." Thankfully, despite the whole psychic thing, Sark (again, generally) isn't usually impolite to most people, especially when they're polite to him first. Hell, he's been known to be genuinely kind to people he intended to put a bullet in, after all... And that's not even remotely helpful. At all.

There's a headtilt as he gives the Vesmier an appraising look, having just locked his emotions back again with an accompanying mental note to be careful about that in the future. He's used to his head being safe, honestly, and sometimes it gets to a point where he forgets that things are different. He's at least vaguely aware of almost everyone in the basement, but somehow he's completely missed this man.

"And may I ask who I should be thanking for that?"
