I don't notice your sideways glances or where your loyalty lies...

There are spies in the common room.

Well, not really. You can stop looking around shiftily... More like a former assassin-cum-spy and a tech geek for the CIA, but hey! Close enough. The narration is not one to split hairs.

In one very far corner of the common room for a reason that can only be described as a defiant, "Yes, I'm here and I'm not going anywhere, and I'm sick of lurking, and you can just deal with that" is Julian Sark  who is sitting in a chair, reading and doing a fairly good job of pretending that no one else in the room actually exists. On close examination (if you really wanted to get that close), you might notice the book he's reading is in Cyrillic, because apparently he can be asocial and pretentious simultaneously.

And putting himself at a wide berth from Sark is someone who will probably be unfamiliar to most of the residents considering how recent his arrival is. At the moment, Marshall Flinkman is sitting on a couch with his laptop journal, and is sneaking surreptitious glances at Sark in his little private corner as if he suspects foul play is afoot. The funny thing is Sark hasn't so much as engaged him for any reason, which somehow just makes Marshall more nervous about his being here (the narration suspects this is Sark's intent). He's... Trying not to think about any of that, however, and is focusing on the laptop in front of him in the style of someone who is definitely trying too hard.

Mmm...Psychic laptop. A much more pleasant thing to focus on than scary terrorist boys. Right.
