A few blocks away from the Conrad, there's a crazy old lady muttering to herself.
"Of course this would happen in CHICAGO, of all places. Of COURSE. These midwesterners, these AMERICANS! No consideration WHATSOEVER for ANYONE but themselves."
Ignore, of course, the fact that she has an American accent, and by all outward appearances seems to be American. She's on a bit of a rant now, and as the crosswalk light changes to show the little man walking, she charges across, head down against Chicago's infamous wind.
"And it's COLD! Next time Gladys, I swear, NEXT TIME you're going to stay back home, no matter how much they keep you up at night. A plague indeed. This is just GLORIOUS."
You wouldn't be able to tell (unless you were an angel, of course,) but Gladys, healing angel, has arrived in Chicago.
