Okay, working on the outline some more; I'll send it over in a day or two for another look through to make sure all the pieces are in place.

I have it at 13 meetings -- about the right timespan and that nice spooky 13 and blue moon connotation for the final epic confrontation.

Questions:

What is Katara's scarf made of? What does it look like?
How do you envision his sleigh working? Dog team/horses/caribou/dragged behind him?
Are betrothal necklaces part of the Water Tribe culture? How does Zuko know about them -- did she tell him, or did he do his homework?
What's Yue's precise role/title? Priestess? Princess? Shaman? Wise Woman? Should I just make up a word?

"I have it at 13 meetings -- about the right timespan and that nice spooky 13 and blue moon connotation for the final epic confrontation."

--> Awesome! XD

"What is Katara's scarf made of? What does it look like?"
--> I was thinking something Tibetan or Taiwanese; Taiwanese indigo is really pretty, but I'm less familiar w/ their woven materials. Worse comes to worse, we make something up that is now extinct. ;)

"How do you envision his sleigh working?"
--> dragged behind him

"Are betrothal necklaces part of the Water Tribe culture?"
--> Yes

"How does Zuko know about them -- did she tell him, or did he do his homework?"
--> They see a man proposing to a woman in the village; Zuko remarks on it, Katara clarifies something, Z realises she will never be in a position to choose someone for herself (like him).

(Rest of answers in a few mins -- just put baby down for a nap, gotta go make some lunch for myself!)

Correction!

"They see a man proposing to a woman in the village"
--> They see a woman in the village (no necklace), and then later on, they see that same woman wearing a necklace looking ecstatic.

There, that's better. It would have been too obvious otherwise. Needed an excuse to make K & Z talk to each other. ^^;

"What's Yue's precise role/title?"
--> Priestess, but I'm a fan of making up words, so go nuts. ^_^b Word should probably convey someone who is deemed very highly worthy of respect.(??)

Did Zuko carve her necklace? What's it made of? Motifs?

For the scarf, I'm thinking of indigo-dyed slubby silk with ikat patterns. It'd be thick and luxurious to her, and I think she's spend a while studying it to figure out how it was made. It'd intrigue her against her will. Here's the sequence of her getting it thus far:

"Why are you here?"

Stalemate.

He tries to give her the scarf, but she refuses.

Wakes up the next morning and it's entwined in her fingers. Strokes the fabric, feels its softness against her cheek. It's beautiful and like nothing she's ever touched... it couldn't hurt to keep it.

This gives you no hold over me, demon.

Read new outline -- and GIS'ed the scarf details. (XD) Loving it so far.

Quick question, though -- will something (material) that soft be delicate? Will it hold up for this long (150 years)? (I can always write it as being passed down in a special box or something, if need be.)

Zuko did not carve the necklace, but he did choose it specially for Katara. It is a blue diamond, with a swirl pattern ingrained in it. He had it carved with a swirl that can look like a wave in one position, and when reversed, looks like a creeping flame.

It is small, fitting inside a small/bracelet-sized jewellery box. It is a pendant.
