Had a fun time on a Dinner-Date with metalynninth and evileye tonight. The beer at the restaurant was mediocre, so I thought I'd pull out something to try from the sampling of Belgian beers I bought recently.

Gulden Draak - has seriously impressed me.

Piraat yeah! Also good and Belgian are Guillotine, Cuvee de Trolls, and La Chouffe. Living in Amsterdam was fantastic for my knowledge of biers.

This is a very fine beer.

Check your local beer store sometime for Grimbergen Ale as well. It's a very nice, slightly darker ale in a similar style. Rich fruity, maybe a hint of nutty, undertones, quite smooth, surprisingly strong for such a mellow palate. Look for red labels among the other Belgians ;)
