...And then there were 4. No, make that 5.

The kiddies are finally home---starting back to school today.

Tyro got in Monday evening and Buttercup got in Tuesday. Tyro came back thicker, more filled out and a little chubby, probably about to hit a growth spurt. Buttercup on the other hand is taller and leaner.

I can't believe they are in 5th and 8th grades. Both of them are the "big kids" at their schools this year. That is a lot of privilege and a responsibility, too. I reminded both of them that one of the things that they can do, as a "kind thing for the day", is to be nice to the new littler kids at their schools who probably are scared half to death of the bigger kids (ie. them).

I think it gave them pause.

I am hoping that they use their newly-realized power for good, not evil. I think they will.

So now with the kids back, and Esquire ensconced upstairs, there is no "setting the table the sad way" with 2 or 3 settings. It's more like "the happy way---on steroids" with 5 settings. Not that Esq. deigns to eat with us often.

We still can not find our "golden nugget" that gets passed around like a talking-stick so everyone can say what they're happy about that day. So we are being spared such "gems" as:

Tyro: I am happy because Buttercup is going to do all my chores tonight!

Buttercup: Hey! No I'm not!
