I booked a serviced apartment in Melbourne CBD, requested for the highest floor facing the west before I went to GoldCoast for work 3 weeks ago.
JO didn't know about this arrangement. I simply sent him an invitation for our 2nd anniversary dinner with no mention about the apartment, but simply asking him to keep the evening free. And he thought we're going to a restaurant in the city for our anniversary dinner.
It was an early start for me yesterday, went to market , came back and prepared the food.
So this is the menu :
Entree- Beetroot Hummus dip, marinated olives, crackers and Hardys Sir James champange (present from my boss last year)
Main- Prawn and Zucchini Risotto
After that, I went to the city to check in the apartment at 2.30pm. It was a very lovely apartment.. and looked almost like new! It has a lovely view facing the west, looking over Victoria State Library, Queen Victoria Square and Melbourne Central.
I put his present ( A baby blue FCUK sweater for him to take to China) on the king size bed, put our toiletries in the bathroom. I pulled the curtain open, and moved the dining table next to the balcony, set up the table , plated the dinner and put them in the fridge.
It's a really lovely apartment, it came with cutlery, wine glasses, plates, dishwasher, pots, microwave,TV, toaster, tea towel, even candle holder and an Ipod speaker! I tried it with my Iphone and it worked! ( And I took my laptop home because I would just use my Iphone for music)
I then went to Big W to get a candle, and another bottle of wine and put them in the room.
Before I left for home to wait for JO, I also adjusted all the lighting to romantic ambiance setting.
Went home, showered.. and watched a bit of Mr.Bean on youtube. And he arrived at 6.20pm. Presented me with a pot of flower he planted himself from seed and now they all flowered. How sweet!
Then we both walked towards the city. we took the Carlton Garden route, a little bit further, but we both liked a bit of garden walk.
On the way, he asked me, which restaurant did I pick? I said" it has no name... but the head chef is an asian."
It was a very pleasant walk across the park, we both talked about a lot of things. When we both arrived under the apartment, he didn't ask a thing, because he thought the restaurant is inside the apartment ( there's really a restaurant inside the apartment building called Cube).
I went to press the lift button, he said " Oh not this restaurant? I said.. no our restaurant is on the top floor.."
As we both arrived on our floor, he followed me, and I swiped the key card and the door opened.. he surprised.
I said, "the head chef for this nameless "restaurant" is really an Asian, food may not be as brilliant as Vue De Monde's, but you are allowed to dine with the head chef while looking at the city sunset."
Tear filled his eyes.
