it's when we stop to think about
the way they sound when they come out
that meaning leaves our dearest words
and we retain this hurt
and if in time i realize
the ticket that would spare my eyes
the desolace of such a place
i may not feel so base
i took it in and closed my eyes
i drifted to where nature lies
about the life that ended then
the man we called our friend
and lying still beneath my sheets
i let the ocean beat repeat
its tired chorus chiming clear
and filling these old ears
please take me back to when we knew
that everything life takes us through
will somehow paint these medals real
remind us how to feel
i miss the days of giants and
the sultry sting of lost romance
the prints we left beneath our wake
washed over by the sea
with all thats good in me
and sinking was my grand mistake
for buried now, is my hearts ache
