it's summer and the young takitsuba talk about how they spend their summer plans. takki ends up talking more about his drama at that time, boku dake no madonna, while tsubasa winds up talking about...baseball.

takizawa hideaki

in the new drama "boku dake no madonna...and I love Her", when acting as a man being bossed around by a woman, it seems like takizawa himself has a change in the way he views romance!? but it seems that his idea of wholeheartedness towards his partner has never changed.

during the filming of the drama, everything has been going on incredibly smoothly. it would have been nice if we had time for the staff and actors to become closer, but now it's already to late for anyone to open their hearts (laughs). during break time everyone would play janken (1), and then the loser would have to treat everyone to drinks, but so far I haven't lost! (laughs) and everyone eats out a lot. there's a shop near the studio that sells good food, and there's an item on the menu that's called "the most popular one in this shop!", and even though usually I think "I'll never be able to order this like that!", somehow after you order the dish, it's actually pretty delicious (laughs). so today I'll like to order a "totally falling ill" *heart* (2) it would have been better if we could order that earlier...maa, that would be nice (laughs), but doing this sort of thing with the staff and actors at the table and spending time eating together is something I feel that is very important. with many thanks to all of them, the filming locations for the drama now have a harmonious sort of atmosphere, and I can tackle different things in filming while still feeling at ease.

speaking of which, last month, I think I said, "I'm the sort who hates being bossed around by my partner and being treated like a child by my partner", but actually after doing this drama, I think that maybe being ordered around isn't all that bad...but I still dislike being treated like a child (laughs). but for example, if my partner says something selfish, I'd just accept it, and I'd think "for the sake of this girl, I'd do anything", and if one can reach a balance in this manner, "kindness" more than "being ordered around" is displayed, isn't it? or so I think. after you think about it this way, it's okay that she says selfish things, because then you would know clearly what she's thinking about, and that makes me happy. conversely, if she uses some strange tone to talk to you without telling you what she's really thinking, as if she thinks that "even if I don't say it you should understand", I think that, I would really get angry instead (laughs). I would probably think like "I don't freaking understand, just say what you want!" (laughs) it's quite okay to quarrel a little, because if you fight just because you have no idea what each other is thinking about is bad, isn't it. you would think something like why on earth did you even get together in the first place, no? I come today with this sort of feeling while filming this drama (laughs).

let's go for a camp at POTATO's studio!?

even though it seems like I'm busy everyday this summer with the filming of this drama, I definitely want to find time to go to the sea. it's finally reached summer and I haven't got enough of it! a camp or something like that would be nice too. if I could go in a huge group, have a barbeque in the midst of nature, that would be super fun~ *heart* oh yes, I'd try inviting the drama's staff too, yeah? this time there are a number of staff who are younger than I am, and the filming locations are overflowing with youthfulness (laughs). if you notice, I'm riding on these young people's thoughts on love relationships (laughs). if we all go for a camp or something like that together we'll get very excited isn't it~ we don't have to go anywhere special, POTATO's studio will do, right~ (laughs) if this were for real, I think everyone will be in high spirits (laughs). yeah~, we'll make stuff like takizawa special yakisoba etc *heart* (laughs)

imai tsubasa

according to tsubasa, it seems that summer is the one season of the year he gets all excited about. it seems like he also has many plans drawn up for this year. exactly how will tsubasa spend his unique summer...?

become so relaxed during summer that it's okay to loosen the strings of your wallet!?

summer is my favourite season out of all the season, so I want the rainy season to end soon so summer would come. at this time, if I wash the car, then rain would fall soon after (laughs), and then I don't like the damp and humid feeling either, but then when there's no rain then the dam can't collect water so I'm stuck (laughs), but then if I think about how I'm going to live, then I don't have a choice!? (laughs) at this moment, I don't have a specific plan, but I definitely want to do something at the sea! anything is okay because I'm a shounan boy (laughs). (3) it would be fun if many people go to the seaside together, and then practice bat swinging with a plastic bat, isn't it (laughs). this is the time I become an evil director (laughs). it'll be fun that while doing so everyone will create an uproar, we'd get burnt real black by the sun, and then we'll go home all exhausted. feeling all happy inside is a good sort of tiredness. also, I like the sound of waves, and after just listening to the waves, it helps to heal me. if I can, I'd like to record just the sound of the waves and then bring it home and take my time to really listen to it (laughs).

I like the fireworks too. I definitely prefer to play with fireworks with other people than to go for a fireworks display sort of thing. first off I'll show off some stunts, then I'll release about 20 rocket firworks, release some calmer ones in between, and then at the end I'll do some showy stunt again...when I've thought more about it then it'll be fun (laughs).

also, during the summer there's a feeling of liberation, and somehow the atmosphere becomes nice and all, then I'd go shopping and inevitably I'd end up buying loads of western style clothes (laughs). without donating stuff I don't need, and without thinking that money is very precious, I'd buy a whole pile of stuff (laughs). this summer I'll surely end up doing the same thing I suppose (laughs).

besides that, if you talk about plans for this summer...hmmm an passionate romance? (laughs) this would be really ideal, get all fired up and passionately in love, and wouldn't it be just fantastic if you welcomed autumn feeling all complete inside (laughs). well it's going to be pretty difficult to accomplish given the situation now, but if there were a chance, then, you know (laughs).

the baseball season opening it the most gratitude evoking experience

if I have time this year, I would want to go watch baseball. some time ago, I got the chance to go to the season opening ceremony for the osaka tigers (4), and it was a really great experience. I was allowed to stand on the mound, which is like a sacred place, and that alone was really something fantastic. and then I was thrown the ball and it make me feel really grateful for something like this to happen! it's an experience that's hard to come by, but anyway I put in all my effort and was taught to throw the ball (laughs). till today, sometimes we have concerts at baseball stadiums, and when that happens, it's a completely different kind of nervousness. somehow being in someone else's place makes you seem like an 'away' party, isn't it (laughs). if I did something poorly, I'm really very sorry to the spectators.

but I was finally able to to support the team as a sort of "tiger junior" status, and because I'm a personal fan of irabu (hideki), this year I will also derive energy and support from the hanshin tigers! but above that, because I love baseball so much, if all the pro baseballers could get all excited and fired up then it would be my greatest happiness.

notes:
(1) janken is a japanese form of rock, paper scissors. usually played to decide on who gets/doesn't get something.
(2) the phrase "touten no ichiban ninki desu" on its own means "the most popular in this shop". but this incident is funny because in japan, you order food by saying "watashi wa (dish name)", and taken out of context, it literally means "I am (dish name)". so the reason why takki felt all embarrassed ordering this dish is that when you order it, you end up sounding like you're saying "I am the most popular in this shop!"
(3) tsubasa's hometown is fujisawa, in kanagawa prefecture. it's by the beach, so it's well known for the "shounan lifestyle" which implies a lifestyle filled with beach related activities, like surfing, marine sports, and some hawaiian stuff. the actual shounan region in japan is located at sagami bay, which is further south from fujisawa. there are 2 annual fireworks displays at fujisawa, which tsubasa also talks about.
(4) osaka tigers, or hanshin tigers, are a baseball team in japan's baseball league. irabu hideki is famous for being a fantastic strikeout pitcher.
