Today in class, my professor asked a question to provoke discussion (it's a small seminar)-a rhetorical question only, because he'd never been able to puzzle out why the novel does this silly thing, so he told us to just start proposing things, because there is no right answer, or conclusion that he's herding us towards.
So I wait for two or three others to offer up their ideas, because I'm trying to be polite and not monopolize the forum, and then throw in my two cents. And the professor is fascinated; he turns to the page and starts jotting something in the book!! This is way more impressive if you know that he's a scholar of the author and teaches this book in basically every course he teaches.
My eyes may have jumped out; I nearly did a victory dance in my seat, but don't think I gave any outward sign of how exciting that was for me. I'm so frigging smart! I am the dork! Whooo-ha!
