“All for Love”

CHAPTER 16

“Ryo...” Mariya started the moment they left the room.

“I'm sorry, there's nothing more.” Ryosuke looked at Mariya seriously before continuing,

“I feel nothing for you anymore, Mariya. It's been years since I've forgotten, and I hope you'd understand. It's your sister that means everything to me now.” with that, Ryosuke left without even glancing back at Mariya's sorrowed stance.

“What?! You mean she saw you?!” Chinen was reacting exaggeratedly again this time. He just heard what happened between Ryosuke and Mariya inside Miyu's room.

“I think so... She seemed cold and distant then. I guess she heard everything.” Ryosuke sighed before looking at Chinen.

“What do I do now, Chii?! She might just leave me now because of this! She might think that I'm just using her to get back at her sister... I didn't even know that Mariya had a sister until now!” and Ryosuke was even more in panic than his bestfriend was.

“It's all your fault, you dimwit! Why did you even have to talk to that girl again?! And why did you even let her get close to you like that when you know that Miyu was also in that room?!” he saw how Chinen was really furious about what happened, and it was normal for him to feel that way.

His bestfriend hated his ex-girlfriend. He knew. Because above anyone else, it was Chinen who saw all of his pain when Mariya left him. Chinen saw how broken he was, and how he changed afterward. He knew that he pained for him.

“I'm sorry...” this words came in a whisper and he knew that it wasn't just meant for Chinen, it was also for Miyu. He knew he had hurt her with what happened.

“I'm going to talk to her, Chii... I need to talk to Miyu.” he said as he meaningfully glance at his bestfriend who just smiled in return and nodded understandingly.

Ryosuke knew that he needed to clear things up with with Miyu and also with her sister, Mariya.

********************************************************************************************

Ryosuke was heading towards Miyu's room then, but before he reached it, he was already seeing Mariya walking towards his direction. She was looking at him directly as if measuring his every attribute.

“Let's talk...” she said authoritatively when she was already face to face with him. This made Ryosuke smile a bit, remembering how Miyu talked to him and Chinen the first day they met.

“If it's about you--”

“It's about my sister, Shida Mirai.” she said cutting him halfway. She then lead him towards the open space at the back of the hospital ground. It was like a mini park where sick little kids were playing still in their hospital gowns.

“So, what now?” he asked once she stopped walking.

Instead of answering, she just stood there silently as if contemplating on something.

“Listen, if you're not going to say anything then I'm going back to Miyu's room. I need to talk to her.”

Ryosuke was about to turn around and walk away when Mariya still remained quiet. But before he can even take a step away, she spoke in a soft yet firm voice.

“She's Shida Mirai.”

She turned to look at him and spoke again as clearly as she can get while still fixing her eyes dauntingly at him.

“She's not Miyu, Ryo... My sister's name is Shida Mirai. And she's the CEO of our corporation. She's smart, powerful, and she's mature enough not to get into futile relationships. I guess it's best if you would know and understand that my sister is not the girl you think you've fallen in love with.”

Ryosuke didn't really know where Mariya leads this conversation into, but he knows one thing. She's not going to make it easier for him to have her sister.

“Mariya, listen... I know it's all weird and awkward that I'm having a relationship with your sister... My ex-girlfriend's sister. But please, I want you to believe me that I love her... We love each other.”

“You love each other? Please Ryosuke! Don't be delusional! My sister doesn't even remember her real name! How can she love you?! Don't you see? It won't work this way! It doesn't work this way! She can't love you and she won't love you!”

“She does... She already does. And I know, my heart knows, that even when her mind forgets me... her heart never will.” he said with much conviction. He was saying this like he was also trying to make himself believe that everything he said was true.

Ryosuke was scared, he had to admit. He was scared of the fact that Miyu might remember everything and go back to being who she really is, and just forget about him and what they shared. But he was even more scared of the thought that he'll lose her because he didn't fight for her.

“She's in love with someone else, Ryo... And eventually, her heart will remember the person she loved most. And it's not you.” it was like a knife stabbed a thousand times in his chest when she heard her say those words.

“My sister is in love with Yuto... ever since. He's the only love she knows. And I know, we all know, that when she finally wakes up from this crazy mind-unwinding that she's having... She'll still go back to him. So don't expect her to leave everything just for a make-believe romance you have.”

It felt like a slap in his face... It was painful to hear those words. It was painful to hear from another person, aside from Nakajima Yuto, how he deserves her better.

Ryosuke didn't want to admit it, yet he felt like history is again repeating itself. He knew that he's going to get hurt again, that he's going to be left alone again.

“She won't leave me...” he said softly that Mariya had to lean closer to hear his words. Then a bitter smile showed up on his lips,

“She's not like you... Right?” he asked painfully as his eyes search her face for answers that he knew were never there.

“She's never like me, Ryo. Mirai was never like me... And she'll never be. But I guess, that's gonna be the problem... because Mirai is never like me. She never makes hasty decisions, she never moves without thinking twice, and she never falls for the wrong guy. She's different that the Miyu you thought you knew.”

Mariya was now looking at the beautiful guy in front of her with sorrowful eyes. She pitied him then, cause all she could see on those loving eyes that once were only looking at her, were sadness and fear of being left by the person he loves.

She knew that Ryosuke had changed. She knew then that Ryosuke was no longer hers, and never will be anymore.

“Ryo...”

“I need to talk to her...”

“But--”

“I can't afford to lose her...” that was all he needed to say to keep Mariya from saying any more. His voice was pleading, like he was asking her to extend his life a little more. And before she can stop him, he already marched away from her... and her life forever.

********************************************************************************************

“Shida Mirai...” her voice cracked as she mentioned the name. Her supposedly name.

It was crazy how she can't remember the people claiming to be her family, and her loved ones. It was even crazier how she felt that she didn't even want to remember them anymore.

She felt happy now, and she felt like she belonged here. She might have lost her memories but she knew that little by little, with Yamada Ryosuke along with his family and their friends, she was creating even more wonderful memories right then.

“How were you living then, Shida Mirai? Were you happy back then?” she asked curiously as her hand went to touch her head.

“Or was it so difficult that you chose to forget it all and be Miyu?” she sighed and stared at the floor where she dropped the vase earlier.

She deliberately dropped the vase when she saw Ryosuke and her supposed to be sister almost about to kiss. It was painful to hear them argue about a past love they lost, but what's more painful was thinking that they share a love before that caused that drastic change in both of them.

“You must have loved her a whole lot for you to change so much when she left you, huh?” she said still looking at the floor.

“Shida Mariya... she's beautiful beyond words. She still remembers you and everything you've shared before. And she's still in love with you. What do I have against that?” she said thinking about Ryosuke.

She loved the guy, she knew without pretenses. They might not been together for long, and he might have been an a** when they met... but she knew that he has a good heart. She saw the real him, and that's what she fell in love with. And she felt that he loved her, too. Only... she's not really sure if the person he fell in love with was the real her.

A lot of uncertainties were clouding her mind aside from those regarding her identity. She was scared that she might remember who she really is then forget Ryosuke. She was scared that she might hurt him once her memories return. She was scared that the real her was not worthy of his love. And she was scared that she might lose him completely.

“Ryosuke...” she said as a tear dropped on her hand that was resting on her lap. And before she could even prevent herself, she was already crying rivers.

A low knock made her flinch as she tried her hardest to wipe away the tears that wouldn't stop from falling from her eyes.

And when the person came in her room looking at her with so much love and compassion in his eyes, she cried all the more.
