Author’s Note: I’m trying my hand at a bit of double-agent noir. This all began as a wildly AU snippet prompted by the idea of a sinister/violent hug at the no_takebacks hug meme. The story is halfway done and I hope to finish by the end of next week.

Kara’s fingers shook as worked the dials of the safe.
She should never have risked coming back like this, but she couldn’t just walk away. As an agent with the bureau, she’d been on countless undercover missions. She knew the drill-- get in, get out, and get the information. Above all, never get attached. But six months ago, that changed. She’d been recruited to seduce the only son and heir apparent of a suspected mafia family.
And oh gods, had she ever succeeded.
