Blaine Big Bang: Rough Drafts

Jul 18, 2013 10:25

If you are participating in the Blaine Big Bang, hopefully this is not the first line of contact for you anymore and you have received our email earlier in the week, but just in case, we'll crosspost here as well. Obviously, this is a very trying time for everyone, but due to feedback from the participants, we are going forward with the Blaine Big Bang. Many of you have already submitted your rough drafts or asked for extensions. If you need an extension due to being unable to finish your rough draft this week, but still believe you will finish your story by the August 17th deadline, that is fine. It is totally understandable, but please let us know, don’t just drop of the face of the earth, we will take it to mean you are dropping out. :) (Which is ALSO totally understandable right now!)

Here are the guidelines for submitting your rough draft. Please email as an attachment to beyond.dapper @ gmail.com, or share the gDoc with us.

1) Your story must be nearing completion (1/3 to 1/2 of the way through is suggested but this is not a requirement - if you have a couple thousand words but are certain you can finish on time, great).

2) Your story must appear to have a clear plot and direction - a goal in mind.

3) You must include a summary for your story. This is even more important than your word count because your summary is what the artists will be reading to make their choices during the claiming. Your summaries will be posted anonymously, so make sure to include 3-4 sentences that accurately depict what your story is about and would draw potential artists in!

4) Your story MUST be beta read before turning in your draft. If you still don’t have a beta, make sure to check the beta spreadsheet in gDocs that was part of the welcome email and contact one! At this point, you should be willing to be flexible with a beta's time!

Make sure to include the following information in your email. (Please not the document, the body of the email, it will make our lives easier!):

1) Current word count
2) Beta
3) Genre
4) Summary
5) Warnings (if any)
6) Characters (other than Blaine)/Parings
7) Rating

Please at least get 3-7 to us within the next 24 hours. The first round of artist claiming will be Saturday at 11am EST and it’s not too late for artists to sign up.

Thanks everyone for being wonderful and lovely and working together this week.
