Beyond Dapper's Secret Santa Gift Exchange 2011
How it works:
1. Signups will be November 14th through November 24th. Any member of Beyond Dapper can sign up to receive the name of another Beyond Dapper member as their Secret Santa recipient. You will be sent the name and address of your recipient on November 26th or 27th.
2. Between November 25th and December 2nd, members participating will need to post a Wish List to their LJ’s of at least 10 items. These items can be anything from fic/icons to jewelry, clothing, Glee memorabilia, DVD’s, music mixes, Darren’s autograph, etc. -whatever would make your holidays bright! Be certain to include a wide range of items-you never know what people might have to give! A recipient I had one year was asking for a video iPod, even used, and I just happened to have one that I didn’t need any more.
3. On November 25th, a master list of Wish List’s will go up at Beyond_Dapper. You will leave a link in a screened comment to the post in your LJ, and it will be added to the master post. This is an important way for your Secret Santa to find your Wish List!
3. Gifts are to be anywhere from $10-$20 U.S. dollars, not including any shipping costs that might be required. It can be a $10 gift with $1 shipping, that's completely fine, for instance.
4. All Secret Santas will remain secret--we will not be posting a master list or anything of who got who. You can reveal yourself in a card, or on your LJ, whatever you'd like to do but if you really want to remain secret it will not be revealed by us. We'll put up a list of participants but that is all.
5. Send your address to beyond.dapper@gmail.com, by the 25th of November or you will not be allowed to participate. In that email, include your LJ name as well as your name and mailing address please. Also: please let us know if you are willing to ship internationally so that we can pair members up accordingly.
6. Cards included are nice but not required.
7. All gifts are to be mailed between December 3rd and December 16th. All items MUST be received no later than December 30th. Please keep this in mind when shipping internationally.
Rules:
1. Treat everyone with absolute respect. We know this is fandom and everyone can get a little elitist, but if you really have a problem with anyone and you have to be a jerk about it leave us alone and let us have our fun.
2. Under no circumstances can you share any of the addresses or names you will get with anyone. Everyone participating will receive someone else's address and name. We know you all like to have your fun on the meme sharing things anonymously or whatever else you do, but do that in your own time. This is a serious matter of safety and no one's address should be posted anywhere without consent.
3. The only people with access to these addresses will be the mods of Beyond Dapper. If you feel you cannot trust us with your address or your name, you do not need to participate.
4. Secret Santa does not in any way mean you can only participate if you celebrate Christmas. It's the season of giving, and you can be any religion or celebrate anything you want and it won't matter. All that's important is that we share in our common love of Blaine and Glee. Anyone can participate.
5. Do not complain to us if you get a member you don't know or don't like. If you have a genuine problem with them please tell us and we might help. But this is a Secret Santa, not a gift exchange. You're not going to get your best friend for everything. If you get someone you don't know, who cares? It's about making friends and giving. You can deal.
6. Don't be greedy. Enough said.
7. You are in no means being pressured to go and buy the best/newest/most expensive things for the person you are sending a gift to. To be honest homemade gifts are more personal and have a deeper meaning. Feel free to purchase a gift but don't be pressured to have to save up a ton of money for something. If you can, great. If you can't, great. It's the thought that counts, and every gift should be from the heart.
8. Only join if you are honestly dedicated to and are able to participate. Imagine learning that the person who is supposed to send you a gift ends up not being able to send it. We don't want any hearts broken.
9. If you need any help, or if you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to ask a mod.
10. HAVE FUN, GUYS. SERIOUSLY. As Blaine fans, we occasionally have to deal with enough crap outside of this comm to not have to deal with it inside as well.
