I think I was probably over halfway through my second beer when I started to get a little more comfortable with myself. Plus, there was the fact that I'd not had to talk with anyone about my choice..well, not my choice, in costume.
Finally, I felt brave enough to walk around a little to see if I could find anyone dressed as bad or worse than I was. There's no telling what the girls and Cordelia came up with for Wesley. Before I took more than two steps, I felt a tap on my shoulder. Here it comes.
"Fashion Police! We're going to have to take you in for questioning. Pink is so not your colour!"
Lorne. This was probably going to be a bad thing. He'd do his best to broadcast to everyone in the room exactly what I was wearing. Taking another swig of my beer, I turned around to face him with a raised brow. Was he wearing..it was so..dark.
"Well, you're dressed up yourself, Lorne. Never thought I'd see you wear something like that." He gave me look and I glanced over my shoulder eyeing the pink things that were still on my back.
"Harmony is to thank for this. I didn't pick these out if you're wondering."
I looked down at my cop uniform and looked back up at him and smiled. "You like?" I asked. "Get it? Fashion Police? I really kill me sometimes, you know that?"
I gave him a wide grin and playfully tapped him on the arm with my nightstick and laughed hysterically.
Then I pointed at his drink. "I've only been at this party for 10 minutes now and I haven't even started drinking!" I gasped with feigned shock. "I better get on that! Toodles!"
I waved at him and bopped off in search of something to drink.
Raising a brow at him, I nodded slightly. "Right, fashion police." I looked down at my arm while taking another drink from my beer as he laughed. Something must have been funny apparently.
As I lowered the drink, I looked at him. He hadn't had a drink? What did that have to do with anything? He motioned toward the drink in my hand. Oh. I started to stutter out some words, but stopped when he gasped and waved himself away.
"Well, that's um..okay." Shrugging, I finished off the drink in my hand and absent-mindly handed it to a waiter as he walked past me. I halfway wanted to find Harmony and ask her what the hell she was thinking for sticking these things on my back. Then again, she'd probably make a bigger scene than Lorne did and that's not what I wanted in the least.
Maybe I should find Wesley and ask him what he was drinking when he hired Harmony as my secretary. Although, knowing him, he probably liked the fact that she was my secretary. Rolling my eyes, I crossed my arms and looked around the room.
Some of the people here were obviously slayers and the rest were employees that I had no idea in hell who they were. I guess that makes me the best CEO ever.
As my eyes scanned the room again, I caught myself..was I nodding my head to this music? No, I didn't dance..or nod. Looking down, I saw my foot tapping the floor the smallest bit. Frowning, I tensed up and did my best to keep still.
I knew full well what could happen if I tried to..'party'.
